As a Yard Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of our yard on a daily basis. Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, you will lead by example, ensuring tasks are executed to the highest standards and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and teamwork within the yard team.
Job Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
Leadership and Team Management
- Collaborate closely with the Branch Manager to implement directives and maintain seamless operational workflows.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the yard team by providing training on company procedures and safety protocols.
- Directly supervise team members, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
- Conduct performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback and actionable improvement plans as needed.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure the yard remains clean, organized, and safe for employees and visitors.
- Oversee inventory management, including stock monitoring, transfers between branches, and accurate communication of supply needs to the Manager.
- Monitor outgoing loads, verifying accurate quantities and adherence to proper loading procedures.
- Step into the Branch Manager’s role as needed, managing truck operations or office duties after thorough cross-training.
Safety and Compliance
- Enforce workplace safety regulations and maintain compliance with company standards.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards, ensuring a secure working environment for all employees.
Qualifications:
- License Type: Class C, CDL A or B
- Work Schedule: Ability to work 8-10 hours per day, including weekends during the peak season (April through November). Scheduling will be coordinated with the Branch Manager.
- Experience: Previous supervisory experience in a similar industry is preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate across all levels of the organization.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with inventory management practices and a foundational understanding of workplace safety regulations.
