Employment Details: Part Time, Non-Exempt, 20 hours a week, flexible schedule
Compensation: $16.50/ hour + Free bedroom onsite at property
About the role: We are searching for a Live-In House Leader for our program expansion for the Mental Health Services Act. This single-family residential property will house residents from our county who are homeless and have been certified by Contra Costa Behavioral Health as eligible. This vital role will enforce house rules, respond to residents' needs and ensure the property is well taken care of. This role requires living on site in a bedroom of a shared home.
What you’ll do:
- Enforces house rules, policies, and safety protocols to maintain order and a positive living environment.
- Manage any overnight concerns with residents and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Assist with moving of furniture and housewares for move-ins/outs and deliveries.
- Conducts regular checks of facility areas to ensure safety, security, and cleanliness, and notify Agnecy of any repairs needed.
- Interacts professionally and appropriately with residents, de-escalating conflicts and addressing any issues that arise.
- Collaborates with other staff, including social workers and case managers, to address resident issues.
- Completes necessary paperwork, including daily logs, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner
What you’ll bring:
- 1+ years community based social services experience or other related experience with homeless adults, mentally ill or substance abusers. Candidates with lived experience of homelessness or mental health challenges are strongly encouraged to apply
- Ability to reside in a shared living environment and provide support to individuals who may be experiencing mental health challenges.
Key Proficiencies you'll need:
- Effective communication (written and verbal), administrative, and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain an above average working knowledge of fire, safety, and health standards.
- Knowledge of the needs of the resident population (e.g., homeless individuals, individuals in recovery) is often preferred.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain a professional demeanor, and handle crisis situations calmly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work well with individuals from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
- De-escalation and conflict resolution skills a plus.
- Good judgment and work independently.
- High level of integrity and strong ethics and values; Patience/tolerance and tact/diplomacy.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Position Requirements:
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check
- Must provide TB test clearance
