Job Summary:

 

The Senior Accountant will manage general ledger (GL) accounting under Mexican GAAP while ensuring alignment with U.S. GAAP. The Senior Accountant will lead closing processes, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance while coordinating closely with the U.S. finance team on cross-border accounting, audits, and reporting.

 

What You’ll Do:

  •  Oversee and manage general ledger (GL) accounting for our Mexican entity, ensure compliance with local GAAP, and alignment with US GAAP and group accounting policies.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including preparation of supporting schedules in line with company deadlines.
  • Reconcile balance sheet and P&L accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements in collaboration with tax advisers and act as the primary contact for audits.
  • Collaborate closely with the US finance team, providing guidance and direction to the US-based accountant supporting Americas activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory tax filings, reporting requirements, and internal controls for Mexico.
  • Identify, recommend, and drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the GL function.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Tax advisors to maintain complete and accurate financial records.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as needed

 Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities):

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in accounting, including several years in general ledger responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican GAAP (NIF); experience with US GAAP is an advantage.
  • Experience working for a US-based company or in a multinational environment preferred.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (Microsoft Navision experience preferred) and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills in Spanish and English, written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across time zones.

Preferred Qualifications/Nice to Have:

  • SOX familiarity and other compliance and process controls
