About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced and product-forward Vice President of Software Engineering to lead our SaaS development teams. This role will be responsible for driving the development and execution of innovative software solutions that optimize supply chain operations, enhance efficiency, and deliver measurable business value, as well as the core services that underlie all of our software. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and leading multi-country engineering teams, deep expertise in SaaS platforms, and a strong background in customer-facing RESTful software.


What you'll do

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for supply chain software solutions, aligning with the company’s overall business goals.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership, product management, and operations teams to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in our products, our software development processes, and retention of our employees.
  2. Team Management:
    • Hire, lead, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams, including nearshore and on-shore teams, to deliver world-class software solutions.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
  3. Technical Expertise:
    • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable, secure, and reliable SaaS-based supply chain software solutions.
    • Ensure the continued use of best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Keep an eye on and drive the adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, IoT, RFID) to enhance supply chain capabilities where possible and appropriate.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with other technical teams, operations, customer implementation, and customer support to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
    • Work closely with product management to prioritize features and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  5. Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
    • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, technology partners, and nearshore development teams to ensure successful delivery of projects.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives, to provide updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
  6. Operational Excellence:
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of SaaS software solutions.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 10 years in a leadership role managing large, distributed teams.
    • Proven experience in building and scaling SaaS platforms, preferably in the supply chain or logistics domain, especially those with a RESTful API-focused component.
    • Significant experience managing near-shore and/or offshore teams, with a strong understanding of cultural and operational nuances. Even better, have experience creating these teams from the ground-up.
    • Hands-on experience with modern technologies such as cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices architecture, and data analytics tools.
  • Skills:
    • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
    • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in industries such as retail, manufacturing, or e-commerce.
  • Knowledge of supply chain tools and technologies (e.g., Manhattan WM, SAP, Oracle).
  • Experience with AI/ML applications for use in supply chain, forecasting, or optimization domains.
