Shipping & handling responsibilities

Performance & Manager Capability

  • Lead initiatives that strengthen individual and team performance across the organization.
  • Build manager capability through scalable leadership development initiatives, including AI-enabled tools to prepare managers for performance, feedback, and growth conversations.
  • Equip managers to recognize early signs of underperformance and take timely, effective action.
  • Prepare and coach leaders to lead candid, compassionate performance and growth conversations with clear expectations and outcomes.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Own employee relations matters, including performance improvement plans, terminations, investigations, and compliance across the U.S. and international locations.
  • Provide expert guidance to leaders on navigating performance issues, corrective action, and sensitive employee matters.
  • Develop and deliver manager training on performance management, documentation, and compliance best practices.
  • Partner closely with People Operations to ensure fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes.

Leadership & Employee Development

  • Develop practical, AI-enabled toolkits to support growth conversations, development planning, and career progression at scale.
  • Partner with leaders to create development plans that retain and grow talent while aligning with business needs.
  • Support targeted leadership development programs as needed.

Role Clarity & Job Leveling

  • Design and evolve job leveling frameworks that create clarity around role scope, expectations, and performance standards.
  • Partner with leaders to define and refine role and level guidelines for critical roles, using an iterative, Ship-to-Learn approach.
  • Ensure role and level guidelines are consistently applied to hiring, performance reviews, promotions, and compensation decisions.

Data & Insights

  • Partner with People Analytics to design and leverage dashboards and reporting that inform talent decisions.
  • Use data and AI-powered insights to identify trends, surface risks and opportunities, and influence decisions related to performance, promotions, engagement, and retention.

Your shipping requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in People Partner, HR Business Partner, or related roles.
  • Proven experience partnering with senior leaders in fast-paced, scaling organizations.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment law; experience supporting international teams preferred.
  • Experience designing scalable programs, frameworks, and toolkits for managers.
  • Strong systems thinker with the ability to connect individual decisions to org-level outcomes.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and iterating toward clarity.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach leaders through complex and high-stakes people decisions.
  • Trusted advisor who can influence without authority and challenge leaders constructively.
  • Excellent coaching and facilitation skills, especially in high-stakes conversations.

Compensation

Our Compensation Shippolicy:

We believe compensation is a custom experience and are commited to fair and equitable compensation practices. The standard base pay range for this role is min is $122k to a max $165k annual salary (we tend to anchor our offers at the mid point $144k). Since we are focused on hiring Shippos Everywhere, we have 2 US pay ranges, a standard compensation range for the majority of the US and a standard +1 compensation range for those who live in areas where the cost of labor is higher, such as NYC and California.

The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: financial budgets, work experience, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market value. The base pay salary ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future. Total compensation for this role will include, equity, medical, dental, vision and other benefits noted in our Shippos “package” section.

Our people, much like the packages we help ship, are all over the world. This means, through our remote-first program, “Shippos Everywhere”, our roles can be based anywhere in the US with the exception of Delaware, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Hawaii, New Mexico and West Virginia and many roles can be based internationally.

For locations outside of the US and Ireland, the employment contracts are powered by Remote.com (all Shippo perks still apply - including equity!). What we want to emphasize is that you can be successful at Shippo regardless of location.
