About the role
Job Title: Accountant - GL & Compliances
Experience : 7-10 Years
Location: Pune
The Accountant – General Ledger and Compliances will be responsible for end-to-end General Ledger accounting, statutory and regulatory compliances for India and US entities, and supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on compliance experience, and excellent verbal and written communication to collaborate with cross-functional and cross-border stakeholders.
What you’ll do :
General Leger Accounting
- Manage end-to-end General Ledger activities for India and US entities
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications
- Perform monthly balance sheet and P&L account reconciliations with proper documentation.
- Review GL transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Route capex invoices correctly, update the Fixed Asset register, and coordinate capitalization/start of depreciation with FA.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes within defined timelines.
Tax & Compliance - Manage India compliances including GST, TDS, PF, ESI, Professional Tax, and statutory filings
- Coordinate US compliances including sales tax filings, withholding requirements, and related reporting.
- Support preparation and review of returns, challans, reconciliations, and compliance calendars.
- Liaise with tax consultants, auditors, and advisors in India and the US.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and compliance gaps.
Financial reporting
- Assist in preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support management reporting, variance analysis, and flux explanations
- Ensure financial records comply with US GAAP and Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS), as applicable.
Controls, Reporting & Audit - Support statutory, tax, internal, and external audits for India and US entities.
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and explanations.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and SOX-like compliance frameworks.
- Identify control gaps and contribute to process improvements and standardization.
Collaboration
- Work closely with AP, AR, Payroll, FP&A, Legal, and Operations teams.
- Communicate clearly with global stakeholders across time zones.
- Proactively handle queries from auditors, consultants, and internal teams.
- Contribute to documentation of accounting policies, SOPs, and process notes.
What you should know:
- Education/Experience: B.Com/BBM/MBA (Finance); 7–8 years in General Ledger, Fixed asset and Compliances for India, US and International entities (open to adjacent ranges based on seniority).
- Technical skills: Strong ERP experience (e.g., Quickbooks/Zoho/SAP/Oracle/NetSuite), Gsheet, Excel (pivot, lookup, sumif etc.).
- Regulatory knowledge: Working knowledge of US, India and international taxation, comfort with audit requests.
- Close excellence: Proven month‑end close ownership—accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis.
- Quality & control: Detail orientation, documentation rigor, and adherence to internal controls/SOX‑like environments.
- Communication: Clear written/verbal skills for vendor management and cross‑time zone collaboration; ability to handle escalations professionally.
