Jess Legge and Kimberly Lexow were masters of the 9 to 5 - working at a high-growth tech start-up, with one question: “Could the work lunch be better?”

Sifted kitchens are zero food waste with all food scraps being composted and all leftovers being donated everyday. Since launching our donation program, Sifted has donated over $3M in lunches to those who experience food insecurity in our 6 cities. About the role


Sifted is hiring a Stock (Receiver) / Food Safety Associate who is willing to learn and grow with our company. We provide daily lunch for some of the hottest startups. We need a cook who can heat up the kitchen, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is responsive to the needs of our clients.


In this role, you will work side by side with an experienced executive chef in our commissary kitchen. Your primary tasks will be receiving and storing incoming shipments, organizing our storage areas being mindful of FIFO, conducting inventory, and maintaining quality assurance and food safety. If you have a desire to learn, are a dedicated and responsible team player, and are looking to cultivate your skills in the kitchen, we want to meet you!



What you'll be doing

  • Be responsible for receiving product orders, inspecting orders for possible damage, and ensuring invoice accuracy
  • Inspecting product for damage and quality, communicating issues with orders with the Managing Chef
  • Organize and maintain cleanliness of store rooms and refrigerated spaces, including product rotation and labeling
  • Conduct inventory on a regular basis and communicating needs with management
  • Ensure product is safe and free of contaminants upon receipt


Our ideal candidate

  • Has worked in previous kitchen roles such as receiver, line cook, prep, dishwasher, etc.
  • Has had experience with catering and event servicing
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Has a working knowledge of diverse cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment
  • Is experienced with Google applications (Gmail, Google Drive), Microsoft Office

  • $23 per hour

  • 80 hours (2 weeks) of PTO with each year of employment; paid winter break between Dec 24-Jan 1

Eligibility : This position must maintain a ServSafe Food Handler certification;


Work environment : This position is based in a commercial kitchen;


Physical requirements : Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time; ability to lift objects of up to 50 pounds without assistance; ability to maintain a safe work area in an environment where open flames and sharp objects can pose safety hazards if not handled properly

The pay range for this role is:

23 - 23 USD per hour (San Francisco Kitchen)
