The SME will also lead efforts to build coalitions within and among corporate organizations, develop safety plans and policies, and foster a proactive culture of safety that integrates regulatory compliance with emergency preparedness and resilience.

What you'll do

  • Conduct analysis of existing safety policies, procedures, and compliance documentation, with emphasis on regulatory, insurance, and emergency management requirements.
  • Incorporate applicable safety and emergency management standards into organizational policies and procedures, including OSHA, ISO 45001, and NIMS/ICS frameworks.
  • Lead coalition-building efforts across corporate departments and stakeholder groups to strengthen organizational engagement in safety initiatives.
  • Develop and update safety plans, policies, and procedures tailored to organizational needs and aligned with regulatory and insurance requirements.
  • Promote and embed a culture of safety throughout the organization, emphasizing prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Review and summarize recent safety incidents, near misses, audits, and emergency events, providing recommendations for corrective action and resilience-building.
  • Support safety committee operations, including participation in committee meetings, after-action reviews, and related stakeholder engagements.
  • Contribute to the development and editing of safety committee materials, such as kickoff packages, monthly agendas, guiding principles, goals, policy recommendations, and integration of emergency management best practices.
  • Assist in creating training plans that address safety awareness, regulatory compliance, and disaster readiness.
  • Prepare for and participate in insurance carrier engagements, policy reviews, remedial action planning, and reporting processes, ensuring alignment with both safety and emergency management expectations.
  • Provide consultation to strengthen continuity of operations and support the transition of the safety committee into sustained, all-hazards operations.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with NIMS/ICS frameworks and their application in organizational safety and emergency management operations.
  • Relevant industry credentials and certifications.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with corporate or organizational safety committees, including integration of safety protocols into broader emergency management strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, insurance carriers, emergency management stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications
