Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced design engineer and analyst with an extensive background in rocket and/or missile system design and optimization. The role will be responsible for flight vehicle design and performance analysis, requirement tracking, burning down risk items, and effectively communicating your work.

Key responsibilities:

The senior systems analyst will be the lead responsible for taking design requirements through iterations of aerodynamic, dynamics, and integrated performance analyses to improve flight vehicle and system performance and inform future conceptual design. Optimization, risk analysis, and probabilistic analysis of flight vehicle and military sensors will be needed to create state of the art designs that will prove reliable in test and deployment.

Requirement tracking: the role is responsible for determining subsystem requirements from product requirements and building+running simulations to track and improve these metrics.

Risk Items: the role is responsible for identifying and burning down key systems risks that present in simulation or in test. This means conducting root cause analysis, suggesting and simulating improvements, and working across the organization to improve system reliability,

Communicating between subject matter experts and to external stakeholders: the systems analyst needs to be able to leverage company expertise to efficiently solve technical problems, and he/she needs to justify the trade space and specific design decisions to company leadership and external stakeholders with an open mind to unconsidered design choices.

Qualifications:

• Strong background, 3+ years, in simulation and optimization ideally of flight vehicles
• 5+ years as engineering individual contributor/responsible engineer in aerospace
• 3+ years working with missile or rocket systems
• Bachelors in engineering
• Extensive design experience in aerodynamics, dynamics, and military systems
• Highly proficient in Python

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters in engineering
• 3+ years at startups
• Proficient in C++ and Rust
• PhD in aerodynamics or GNC
