Backed by joint staff level military leadership and several major SV firms, their first product is designed for immediate deployment around the world starting with Ukraine where the need is critical.
Job Overview:
We’re seeking talented and highly motivated senior level solid rocket propulsion engineers. This will be a hands-on role doing solid rocket motor development from concept through to flight qualification. This is a full time + role at a fast growing stealth startup with a significant equity opportunity. Solid rocket motor development and supply chain is at a historically low point in the United States critically blocking the development of more capable and affordable systems for the DoD and our allies; execution in this role will directly result in lives saved around the world.
Key responsibilities:
- Engineer will be responsible for propellant development and characterization, rocket motor hardware and ground testing hardware development and ownership, propellant manufacturing process, quality and reliability assurance, and frequent static fire testing.
- Expected to own large business outcomes and experience a rate of personal and professional growth that is unmatched literally anywhere else
- Perform post-test and post-flight data reviews
- Partner with engineering and production teams to generate ideas, designs, and improvements.
- Propulsion system development, analysis and test projects.
- Perform analysis on designs including hand calculations, CAD, and FEA.
- Design a range of structures and parts to enable system capability, creating original CAD models and prints.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, structural engineering, or Chemical Engineering
- 2+ years of experience with Solid Propulsion Rockets, and was a lead on University Rocket team
- High proficiency in CAD software (CREO, Solidworks, NX)
- Strong ability to design for manufacturing
Preferred Skills:
- Masters in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, structural engineering, or Chemical Engineering
- Strong background in chemical engineering and manufacturing
- Strong background in solid rocket propulsion development
- Strong background in rocket and missile design and development
- Experience testing aircraft, rocket stage or engine systems, or other systems
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to succinctly communicate in high-stakes, time-sensitive situations
