About the Company:
Singularity is an Aerospace & Defense startup headquartered in Gardena, CA. Our founding team hails from SpaceX, Anduril, and Lockheed Martin, and we are backed by Joint Staff-level military leadership and several Silicon Valley firms. With a world-class business development & leadership team already in place, we are well positioned to capitalize on already overwhelming demand.
About the role:
We are a defense startup developing an air-defense missile system, and we are looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to help turn development hardware into repeatable, scalable production.
You will take substantial ownership, developing and implementing the manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling, and equipment required to build and accept complex electromechanical hardware.
This is a role for an engineer who wants to be hands-on with hardware. You will work directly with technicians, design, quality, and test engineers to establish new manufacturing capabilities, resolve build issues, and scale production.
What you will do:
Own manufacturing processes and scaling for interceptor manufacturing
Take assemblies and operations from early development builds and mature them to support a high-rate production program. Establish assembly sequences, process flows, station requirements, tooling needs, and manufacturing controls. Coordinate across teams to resolve gaps that prevent hardware from being built safely, consistently, and efficiently.
Develop and maintain production documentation
Create clear work instructions, build travelers, and inspection requirements. Validate instructions through hands-on builds and technician feedback. Keep documentation aligned with released drawings, bills of material, engineering changes, and the configuration of the hardware being built.
DFMA
Work with design engineering to identify and resolve assembly access, tooling, tolerance, inspection, testability, and producibility challenges. Bring actionable recommendations to design reviews and use lessons from actual builds to simplify assembly, reduce manufacturing risk, and improve repeatability.
PFMEA
Develop process failure mode and effects analyses with design, quality, test, and manufacturing teams. Translate identified risks into practical prevention measures, inspection points, process controls, and work-instruction requirements.
Support builds and mature production process
Work alongside technicians to resolve manufacturing issues, train operators, and incorporate shop-floor feedback. Assist quality and design engineering on nonconformances, root-cause investigations, and approved corrective actions. These actions are required to support repeatable, high-volume production numbers.
Qualifications:
-A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, industrial, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
-Experience creating work instructions and process flows, interpreting engineering drawings and bills of material, and working within configuration-controlled documentation.
-Practical experience with DFMA, PFMEA, manufacturing cost estimation, and structured root-cause analysis, with the ability to turn analysis into implemented changes.
-Experience developing or deploying tooling, fixtures, manufacturing equipment, or production test systems, including troubleshooting problems during initial use.
-Strong ownership and communication skills: you can work through incomplete information, identify dependencies, make sound recommendations, and drive issues to closure across multiple teams.
-Familiarity with regulated quality environments, serialized hardware traceability, nonconformance and change-control processes, and manufacturing execution or enterprise resource planning systems is also valuable. Experience with SolidWorks, automated test equipment, or equipment supplier acceptance activities.
Additional Requirements:
ITAR
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
