The Opportunity

Skift is seeking a Director, Strategy to join the Skift Advisory team to work alongside Senior Directors and Associates to grow Skift Advisory business and lead delivery of client engagements with a primary focus on North America.


This is a fully remote position.


Skift is a fully distributed, remote company with employees based across the globe. This position is remote and requires a high level of coordination and communication skills to be successful. You must be able to work independently, set tasks in a timely manner, join meetings via video, and periodically travel and work outside normal company hours for special events or projects.

Some of What You'll Do

Business Development


  • Lead business development efforts by seeking new business across North America identifying and shaping opportunities for company growth within the travel and tourism sector, participating in client meetings, and crafting proposals.

  • Create compelling narratives that showcase the value and expertise of Skift Advisory to potential clients.                 


Situational Analysis & Trend Identification

  • Conduct comprehensive situational analyses to understand current market conditions and client positioning within the travel and tourism industry.

  • Identify and prioritize emerging trends, opportunities, and threats that could impact client strategies.

Insight Synthesis & Strategic Development

  • Synthesize insights from a variety of data sources, including market research, interviews and workshops, and peer benchmarks and competitive analysis.

  • Develop actionable strategic recommendations tailored to client objectives and the broader travel and tourism landscape.

Presentation & Client Engagement


  • Conduct engaging and informative presentations to client teams, effectively communicating strategic insights and recommendations.

  • Foster strong relationships with clients through regular communication and by delivering value in every interaction.


Implementation Planning


  • Create detailed plans for the implementation of strategic recommendations, including timelines, resources, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Work collaboratively with client teams to ensure alignment and feasibility of implementation plans.

 

Project & Team Management


  • Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all tasks are executed on time and within budget.

  • Lead and motivate project teams, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity to meet client needs and project goals. 

The Experience You Bring 

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree strongly preferred (MA/MSc/MBA)

  • You have a minimum 10 years of experience at a management consultancy or a destination marketing/management organization in a strategic planning role

  • You have functional knowledge, in the areas of:

    • Strategic planning and evaluation

    • Project management

    • Business development

    • Travel and tourism

  • You have outstanding  writing skills with the ability to transform concepts into strategic plans, articulating insights through coherent and persuasive narratives

  • You have excellent technical competency developing analytical reports using MS PowerPoint

  • You are friendly, engaging, and confident in your experience, skills, and abilities; and you are willing to continually learn

  • You are a self-starter and can lead and collaborate with individuals and teams, motivate others, and clearly communicate complex ideas, especially involving quantitative and qualitative research

  • You have well-developed critical thinking and conceptual problem-solving skills and business acumen

  • You are very comfortable working across cultures, geographies, and time zones and have excellent cross-cultural communication skills

  • You have the flexibility and desire to work virtually, with a good deal of global business travel

  • Fluency (oral and written) in additional languages
