The Opportunity

SkiftX is Skift’s in-house sponsored content studio, delivering best-in-class multi-platform content marketing programs for Skift’s flagship brand, including our sibling brand Skift Meetings, the most  trusted publication that global meetings and event professionals turn to for guidance and inspiration about innovation in the meetings industry. The studio’s work is helping define how the travel industry speaks to its stakeholders, clients, and partners, both externally and internally.

SkiftX is looking for a full-time Branded Content Editor (located anywhere in the United States) to lead its Skift Meetings sponsor work. The right candidate will have a combination of editorial knowledge of the meetings and events sector and strong client management experience. 

The role focuses first and foremost on the creation of written sponsored content and client management activity for Skift Meetings sponsor partners on the Skift Meetings business. The ideal candidate will be skilled at creating sponsored content and/or editorial, comfortable with daily client account management, and will have previous public speaking experience 


Skift is a fully distributed, remote company with employees based across the globe. This position is remote and requires a high level of coordination and communication skills to be successful. You must be able to work independently, meet goals, set tasks in a timely manner, join meetings via video, and periodically work outside normal company hours for special events or projects.

Some of What You'll Do

  • VERY IMPORTANT: Post-sale written content production: Write and/or manage freelancers who develop award-winning branded content programs for Skift sponsors. Typical formats include: articles, interviews, long-form trend reports, and moderation of presentations by sponsors at Skift Meetings virtual and in-person events. This is the bulk of the job.

  • Day to day client management: Collaborate with Skift’s sales team to handle ongoing client communications related to a variety of Skift Meetings sponsor content projects for clients in the Event Tech, Hospitality and Destination sectors, among others

  • Skift Live partner event moderation and production: Lead and/or support other SkiftX team members with the development and on-stage moderation of partner content at Skift Meetings virtual and in-person events, including panel discussions at the annual Skift Meetings Forum in September along with virtual webinars and Skift Meetings events

  • Pre-sale ideation: Support Skift Meetings’ sales team in the development of strategic program and content ideas for high-value clients when required

  • Collaborate with Skift Meeting project manager on timelines, content promotion and client communication

  • Ensure all content is delivered on time, maintains a high level of journalistic quality, features a consistent tone and style, and supports and reinforces key messages aimed at Skift’s audience

The Experience You Bring 

  • Excellent communication and writing skills: Experience ideating, editing, writing, and proofing sponsored content in a variety of formats (articles, reports)

  • Experience working with clients, managing client relationships and feedback

  • Prior work with public speaking, presenting, or moderating at events, either in person or online (examples: client webinars, on-stage panels, breakout sessions)

  • Proven experience in a high-output, fast-moving, environment such as digital marketing company, ad agency, and/or a branded content studio at a media company 

  • A strong knowledge of marketing and marketing communications: understanding of how to turn client goals and ideas into effective, engaging content that is informative to Skift readers while also meeting sponsor business goals

  • Understanding of meeting and event trends, event technology tools, event planning, attendee experience design, destination marketing, hotel event planning and trade show best practices

  • Ability to speak and write in conversational and professional English in a nuanced way, free of grammar or spelling errors 

  • Experience with WordPress, HubSpot, Google Drive Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets), and Basecamp

  • You’re passionate about bringing original ideas to the table and helping brands communicate their message in authentic, engaging ways. You can sell ideas and also figure out how to organize cross-team resources to bring them to life

  • You’re a master communicator and can take a raw idea from a client or a teammate and turn it into a fully-formed piece of content like an article or a report or a on-stage talk.

  • You’re comfortable collaborating across various teams and disciplines (ex - design, marketing, editorial, video, sales, events) to produce cross-discipline projects

  • You are a responsible teammate and able to work independently and autonomously


Bonus Point 
  • Previous experience and understanding of how to work with clients or partners in the meetings and events sector is a significant plus.

  • You know how to apply your organization skills by managing the details while keeping an eye on the big picture -- and driving logistics from ideation to execution
