The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to our global workforce of employees and contractors. This role focuses on resolving everyday IT issues, managing device and account support, and ensuring smooth onboarding/offboarding processes.  


Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support by troubleshooting hardware, software, and supporting Windows and macOS. 
  • Handle user account management, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and access management within platforms such as Entra ID. 
  • Log, prioritize, and resolve support tickets using the designated ticketing system. 
  • Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate teams or upline leadership. 
  • Assist in the setup, maintenance, and upgrade of IT assets according to established procedures. 
  • Support the deployment and troubleshooting of remote management tools and company-specific applications. 
  • Implement and maintain system hardening standards, including CIS benchmarks to ensure the security and compliance of IT system.  
  • Manage and execute regular patching of systems to address vulnerabilities and maintain the integrity of internal infrastructure. 
  • Partner with leadership on the new hire and separation process in accordance with internal SLA’s, processes and confidentiality standards.  
  • Execute standardized procedures for onboarding new employees and contractors, ensuring that devices and accounts are properly configured. 
  • Execute offboarding processes and ensure the secure retrieval and deactivation of IT assets. 
  • Contribute to the development of process improvements, documentation, and self-help resources. 
  • Maintain an updated inventory of IT assets and assist in audit evidence and compliance checks. 
  • Share and disseminate communications about system wide issues, upgrades, fixes as requested and appropriate and regularly propose user best practices on a regular basis. 
  • Participate in and support a rotation of on-call coverage as assigned and requested for weekends and applicable holidays. 
  • Support and promote the company values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis. 
  • Other strategic business initiatives or special cross-functional project involvement as required


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent years of experience. 
  • 3+ years in IT support, preferably within a remote or decentralized environment. 
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting operating systems (Windows and macOS), basic networking, and remote support tools. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-centric mindset. 
  • Naturally proactive and comfortable working within a dynamic and decentralized environment. 
  • Naturally inquisitive with a desire to solve problems and dig into detailed analysis. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, be organized and manage competing priorities effectively. 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively to various audiences/levels including leadership through various mediums 
  • Experience with device management platforms like Intune or Kandji 
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and basic ITIL principles. 
  • Relevant technical certifications  
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining system hardening standards, including CIS benchmarks, to ensure the security and compliance of IT systems. 
  • Proven ability to manage and execute regular patching of systems to address vulnerabilities and maintain the integrity and security of IT infrastructure. 

Salary Range 


The base salary for this position is $60,000 - $78,000 annually. Consistent with applicable laws, compensation will be determined based on the candidate's level, relevant skills, qualifications, and experience along with requirements for the position and annual financial plans. 


Skillable is a distributed first team with employees working across the U.S., and we do not consider geography when determining compensation ranges. 


Please note that it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. Skillable reserves the right to modify this compensation range at any time. 


Pay range and current benefit offerings are effective for 90 days from posting date.  Standard employment offerings are subject to potential change upon periodic review and analysis, at the discretion of Skillable.

Working Conditions:  


The job conditions for this position are in a remote home office setting, requiring a space that supports privacy and focus to attend to regular and frequent video and voice calls. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Periodic travel may be required equaling up to approximately 10% of the time.
