The Instructional Designer will execute our content development strategy and model our instructional design methodologies and the processes that translate those beliefs into high-quality learning experiences. They will support custom projects with designing, developing, and publishing customized content for our customers. They will create training and skilling content, follow responsive and trustworthy development processes for content services, and be an advocate for sound instructional design and content creation practices. 


Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high quality, valued learning content for our customers. 
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and customers through the content development lifecycle. 
  • Participate in extended and continuing education, research and competitive analysis to understand the learning and edtech market; maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.  
  • Design and develop courseware projects following established processes from management and leads to assure objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.  
  • Track billable time to support management efforts to report on resourcing needs for to maximize margin and time to market while maintaining appropriate flexibility.  
  • Uphold processes to perform regular quality and design reviews throughout the content development lifecycle.  
  • Follow best practices in adult learning theory and other learning design skills and methodologies for skills development and skills validation content creation 
  • Support management and others in the Product Group to document best practices for integrating scored labs and other Skillable products with custom content opportunities. 
  • Participate in coaching sessions from colleagues and management to learn more about the “why, what, and how” of building effective, efficient skills development and skills validation content.  
  • Support and promote the company values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis. 
  • Other strategic business initiatives or special cross-functional project involvement as required. 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years contributing complex learning development projects/programs 
  • Good command of the Articulate 360 suite, and Adobe Captivate 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager is a plus 
  • Advanced-level understanding and practice of Instructional Design as a discipline; working-level knowledge in adult learning theories and research, learning experiences, needs assessment, job/task analysis, and skill/competency frameworks. 
  • Working knowledge of technical terminology and ability to quickly become “conversationally competent” with a wide variety of cloud, data, AppDev, IT, and security terms. 
  • Desire to work – and ability to flourish – at an extremely fast pace. 
  • Proven ability to drive multiple workflows/projects forward within a matrixed, agile work environment. 
  • Willingness to help fellow team members understand how to employ new Instructional Design methodologies. 
  • Experience in the IT training and certification industry and understanding of technical content development, job/task analysis, and Instructional Design is required. 

Salary Range 


The base salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 annually. Consistent with applicable laws, compensation will be determined based on the candidate's level, relevant skills, qualifications, and experience along with requirements for the position and annual financial plans. 


Skillable is a distributed first team with employees working across the U.S., and we do not consider geography when determining compensation ranges. 


Please note that it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. Skillable reserves the right to modify this compensation range at any time.

Working Conditions:  


The job conditions for this position are in a remote home office setting, requiring a space that supports privacy and focus to attend to regular and frequent video and voice calls. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Periodic travel may be required equaling up to approximately 10% of the time.
