Slang AI Careers

Senior Product Manager II

What Your Experience Will Be

You'll join Slang's Product team owning multiple product areas, or a single area with company-critical scale. Your work will help restaurants operate with AI-driven efficiency, and deliver better customer service through natural conversation. Your work will directly impact thousands of restaurant interactions daily.

In a given month, you might be scoping a voice AI conversation-quality problem, rethinking an onboarding flow, untangling a billing edge case, or making the case for a platform investment that unblocks two other teams' roadmaps. You're expected to work full stack as a product leader, comfortable running ambiguous 0-to-1 discovery one week and well-scoped execution the next, moving between a customer discovery call and a technical trade-off conversation with engineering.

You'll report to the Head of Product. This role doesn't have formal reports, but you'll regularly coordinate work across other PMs on cross-area initiatives, and you'll be expected to weigh in on how the broader team runs discovery and prioritization. The role requires attendance at key ceremonies including daily standups, bi-weekly cycle planning, and weekly product leadership meetings. Engineering and design will look to you for judgment calls with little day-to-day oversight; leadership will look to you to turn what's happening in the product into decisions they can act on.

Day to day you're running customer and prospect calls, using AI tools for research and prototyping, collaborating with design and engineering, and communicating cross-functionally across Slang. The role is based in our NYC HQ, with occasional travel for company offsites.

Why You Belong Here and How You Will Grow

Slang's product culture is data-driven. Data of all kinds informs our product decisions – market research, usage and performance analytics, usability testing, RICE scoring, and more. To do your job well, you’ll have access to Slang’s suite of data and you’ll be empowered to dig deep.

We’re also AI native, so using AI tools to research, prototype, and deliver is expected. Slang has a culture of open sharing and experimentation, so you will be learning alongside your teammates in the rapidly changing AI space.

Growth here is concrete. You'll also have the option to build toward people management from here, since strong performance at this level is the track most PM managers at Slang came up through. Day to day, that growth looks like mentoring other PMs on discovery and prioritization craft, and helping shape team-wide rituals like roadmap reviews and planning cadence.

What Success Looks Like

  • Own the requirements and outcomes for multiple product areas (or one company-critical area) with minimal oversight, hitting committed company-level milestones across them
  • Contribute to roadmap planning with data and prototype-driven recommendations
  • Shape how the broader PM team approaches discovery and prioritization, and help shape team-wide rituals like roadmap reviews and planning cadence
  • Coordinate cross-area initiatives with other PMs, resolving competing priorities without needing to escalate every trade-off
  • Communicate roadmap trade-offs and risk directly to the Head of Product and other execs in language they can act on
  • Collaborate directly with designers tech leads to develop and document requirements, design, and technical plans required for launch
  • Demonstrably raise the bar for PM craft on the team, not just for your own output

What You Will Bring

Required:

  • 6–8+ years of product management experience, with a track record of owning and shipping across genuinely varied product surfaces — not just AI features
  • Demonstrated ability to work "full stack": comfortable moving between 0-to-1 discovery, technical trade-off conversations, and polished execution
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and making prioritization calls with little oversight, including calls that require coordinating across other PMs' areas
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including comfort presenting trade-offs and risk to executive stakeholders
  • Active, hands-on use of AI tools in your daily workflow — not passive awareness, but a demonstrated habit of using AI to move faster and think better
  • A track record of helping other PMs get better, even without formal authority to do so (mentoring, pairing, giving feedback on specs or prioritization)

Preferred:

  • Prior experience managing or leading other PMs, even informally
  • Experience in voice, conversational AI, or another complex, technically dense product domain

How Work Affects My Life

This role offers hybrid work flexibility with a Tier 1 base pay adjustment, real scope, and a good amount of ambiguity to manage on your own.

  • Competitive salary and equity package reflecting your experience and scope
  • Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Professional development support, including a track toward people management if you want it
  • Direct exposure to company-level strategy and executive decision-making, earlier than most PM roles offer

Doing this job well will change how you think about product work: you'll stop treating "AI PM" and "generalist PM" as different skill sets, and start treating judgment and prioritization craft as the thing that transfers across whatever you're handed.
