Senior Field Technician - Critical Infrastructure

Position Title: Senior Field Technician – Critical Infrastructure

Position Location: Must relocate to or live in Atlanta, GA / Amarillo, Lubbock, Big Spring, Fort Worth, Dallas, El Paso, TX / Las Cruses, NM


JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Field Technician – Critical Infrastructure is a highly skilled, hands-on field professional supporting hyperscale and colocation data center construction projects ranging from 40 MW to 200 MW.


This role is responsible for executing complex installation, testing, and startup activities while serving as a technical leader on site. The Senior Field Technician works under the direction of the Field Lead and Site Superintendent and may provide day-to-day guidance to junior technicians.


The Senior Field Technician is expected to operate independently within assigned tasks, troubleshoot issues in real time, and elevate risks or constraints early to support safe, efficient project execution.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Field Execution & Technical Leadership (45%)

  • Perform advanced installation, checkout, and testing activities across assigned scopes.
  • Execute work involving panels, devices, controls wiring, low-voltage systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot installation and functional issues independently and implement corrective actions.
  • Serve as technical lead for small crews of technicians as assigned.
  • Support onboarding and mentoring of junior and apprentice technicians.


Coordination & Daily Execution (25%)

  • Coordinate daily work activities with the Field Lead and other trade partners.
  • Support sequencing and task planning to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Communicate work status, issues, and constraints clearly to field leadership.
  • Assist with material staging, tool readiness, and work area organization.


Safety & Quality Compliance (20%)

  • Execute work in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, STC safety policies, and project-specific requirements.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and pre-task planning.
  • Verify work quality against drawings, specifications, and approved standards.
  • Identify unsafe conditions or quality issues and immediately escalate to field leadership.


Documentation & Closeout Support (10%)

  • Assist with redlines, punchlists, and task completion documentation.
  • Support testing documentation and issue tracking as directed.
  • Provide input to lessons learned and continuous improvement efforts.


Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget

Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in field installation, testing, and startup roles within mission-critical, hyperscale, or complex MEP construction environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with construction tools, equipment, and field installation practices
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical and installation issues independently
  • Experience guiding or mentoring junior technicians in the field
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, submittals, and specifications
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and jobsite safety practices
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field leadership and peers

  • Frequently manipulating, moving, or grasping tools, devices, and materials
  • Frequently walking and working in active construction environments, including ladders, stairs, and uneven terrain
  • Frequently exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise
  • Occasionally required to position self under or over equipment, including in confined spaces
  • Occasionally required to lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently required to wear PPE and work in high-noise environments


TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to rent vehicles
  • Full-time presence at the assigned project site
  • Willingness to work extended hours and night shifts during critical execution and testing windows
  • Up to 25% travel to other STC job sites as business needs require
  • Valid REAL ID or passport required for domestic travel


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s Degree or technical training in Electrical Technology, Controls, Automation, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered
  • Demonstrated progression in field roles with increasing responsibility and technical complexity

The pay range for this role is:
