About the role
- The Technical Support Specialist – Level I will provide daily on-site system administration, troubleshooting, and user support for specialized IT systems. This role is responsible for maintaining operational readiness through patching, backups, and account management, while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
What you'll do
- Perform daily system health checks and resolve technical issues.
- Support Windows SDC, Windows Server, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
- Apply operating system and application patches within required timelines.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access requests within 24 hours.
- Perform and verify data backups; test recovery procedures regularly.
- Document troubleshooting steps, system changes, and operational reports.
- Provide after-hours support on an as-needed basis (approx. six times per year).
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in IT support or system administration.
- Active DoD SECRET clearance (must be current).
- CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570 IAT Level I compliant).
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8)
- Windows 10/11 SDC environments
- Experience with tools such as VMware vSphere, GitLab, and Confluence.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in secure or government contracting environments preferred.
Pay:
Competitive, commensurate with experience.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, with limited after-hours availability.
Work Location:
- Candidate must be able to work on-site at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
- Must be eligible for base access and hold an active DoD SECRET clearance.
