About Smartwyre

Founded in 2018, Smartwyre is a venture-financed SaaS business delivering enterprise software to large agricultural businesses, operating in a $400 billion global industry. With an estimated 5 million farmers and over 5,000 distributors globally, Smartwyre works across the agricultural supply chain, from large corporations to local farms. Presently, we work from the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and South America.

We are building a B2B SaaS platform to network together the commercial operations of the companies that supply the world’s farmers with seeds, fertilizer, chemicals, and services, with their target markets being the United States, Europe, and Latin America. We aim to first offer SaaS applications to solve key commercial pain points (pricing, costing, quoting), then network these companies using a common data platform (transactional data exchange, product information publication, people networking, and user analytics), and finally empower the network to facilitate new business model amongst network participants.

About the role

We’re looking for a hands-on operational leader to manage and scale our data connections across the market and to lead the expansion of our Data Management team. This team is essential to our customer experience — responsible for onboarding customer data, maintaining data quality, building automations, and ensuring seamless data flow across our platform and to our trading partners.

You’ll bring operational rigor, technical expertise, and a passion for building scalable systems and transactional data networks. You’ll also bring fresh ideas and proven strategies from your past experience to help us streamline onboarding, improve data reliability, simplify and standardize processes, and scale efficiently as we grow from hundreds to thousands of connected organizations.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.  Please note that the company is unable to employ applicants from any of the following states: California, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New York. New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington and Maryland.

What you'll do

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data analysts and technical specialists.
  • Oversee the ingestion, transformation, and validation of customer data across multiple systems.
  • Design and maintain data flows from our platform to external trading partners, ensuring accuracy, security, and reliability.
  • Architect and optimize integration designs that support scalable, flexible, and secure data exchange.
  • Build and refine processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success, Product, and Engineering teams to support onboarding and ongoing data needs.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual work and improve data reliability.
  • Bring strategic insights and innovation to improve customer onboarding and data integration at scale.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, training resources, and data management best practices.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Help shape the strategy for data operations by finding scalable solutions and process improvements

Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in data management, data operations, or technical customer support roles.
  • Proven success scaling data processes and teams in a high-growth environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in integration design, including experience with SaaS platforms and third-party data exchange.
  • A track record of bringing new ideas and process improvements to enhance scalability and customer experience.
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills.
  • A customer-centric mindset with the ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is a strong plus.
