All Chicago employees are in the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. While our office is open 5 days a week, we allow you to choose what works best for you on Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
Our office is in the heart of the Loop within 10 minutes of the Metra and all “EL” trains. And, we have lots (and lots) of snacks.
The Role
We are seeking a Partnerships Manager for the Bar Partnerships & Events Team to oversee relationships with our 20+ bar association partners. In this role, you’ll collaborate with partners to promote Smokeball, increase member awareness, and drive referral revenue. Key responsibilities include managing partner meetings, overseeing contract renewals, developing marketing plans, delivering advertising assets, scheduling webinars and events, reviewing KPIs, and strategizing growth initiatives with partners.
While we have a preference for candidates within the Chicagoland area, we are considering applicants that are not located in Chicago. For those located in Chicago, we expect for the role to be hybrid with 2 days a week in our Chicago office.

I’ve worked in the legal industry for over 15 years, transitioning from law school to legaltech. I love the work we do here at Smokeball in helping improve the lives of law firms through innovative technology so that they can spend more time on the work they love. I love that every day at Smokeball is unique, especially with the work we do in partnerships – it never gets old! We’re very lucky to be able to develop strong relationships with bar associations and other legal changemakers, while running creative marketing campaigns and working with all areas of the business. Kathy Sandstedt: Hi, I’m Kathy and I’m a Partnerships Manager. I have years of experience working with partners, ranging from technology vendors at Microsoft to currently working with Smokeball’s bar association partners across the country. I’ve worked at Smokeball since 2021 and played a key role in creating our Bar Association Member Benefits Program which has been both successful and rewarding. My daily activities include meeting with our bar association partners, creating and executing on joint marketing plans, and analyzing data to determine which activities are working best. My favorite part about working at Smokeball are the people! It is a friendly environment where people help you and want you to succeed.
