Purpose

The Retail Team Lead is a brand ambassador, generating sales by proactively engaging and connecting with our customers. This position supports day-to-day operations, leads the retail team, and promotes gear, apparel, and community outreach. As part of our new Seattle store opening in late April, we are looking to bring this person on in early April alongside the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to help build and launch the store from the ground up.

       FLSA: Nonexempt

       Status: Full Time, Benefit Eligible

       Compensation: $23-$27/hr

       Reports To: Store Manager

       Schedule: Required availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays

Essential Duties

Store Opening

       Join the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in early April to prepare for the store’s late April launch

       Support pre-opening setup including visual merchandising, inventory receiving, and establishing operational processes

       Help recruit, onboard, and train the store team ahead of opening day

Retail Sales

       Create an elevated, upbeat, welcoming experience for customers

       Drive and increase sales by connecting with customers and asking open-ended questions to assess needs and make relevant merchandise suggestions

       Speak with knowledge and confidence to customers about materials, styles, fit, fabrics, price and trends in the outdoor and fashion industry

       Strengthen our brand presence by encouraging customers to engage with social networking sites and email list

       Educate customers on brand history, products, offers, promotions, and events

       Process customer transactions efficiently with excellent point-of-sale/cash-handling accuracy

       Handle customer service complaints, refunds, and questions, assuring customers are satisfied

       Answer phone and email questions, including notifying customers promptly regarding restocked product and special orders

Support Day-to-Day Operations

       Execute visual merchandizing for gear and apparel

       Support community events and social media campaigns

       Execute opening and closing procedures according to company best practices

       Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, fitting rooms, window displays, cash-wrap areas, and back of house

       Apply knowledge of retail KPIs to make decisions that drive achievement of established sales targets

       Execute all operational processes effectively and efficiently including shipment processing, back stock replenishment, inventory counts, loss prevention

       Ensure that health, safety, and security rules are followed

Lead Retail Team

       Act as a liaison between store associates and store leadership to create a fun and collaborative work environment

       Function as Manager on Duty (MOD) when other managers are not present

       Demonstrate desired behaviors for staff including driving sales, handling difficult and/or complicated sales, cash management, inventory, and follow-up with customers

       Support the recruitment, onboarding, training and development of the store team

       Suggest and organize team building activities

       Contribute to a positive working environment by being approachable, respectful, responsible, and team oriented

Performs other related duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

Education

       High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

       2 years working in a retail environment

       Experience leading a team

Skills

       Extraordinary customer service

       Excellent problem-solving skills

       Basic mathematics and financial knowledge

       Basic knowledge of operating computers, POS systems, and various software packages including MS Office

Abilities

       Reliable and professional

       Approach solving problems creatively and strategically

       Friendly and engaging with all types of people

       Gracefully adapt to periodic and rapid change

       Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate others

Physical Effort

       Prolonged periods standing

       Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
