Field Technician - Residential

Socket is seeking a skilled Field Technician- Residential to join our talented workforce. In this role, you'll deliver expert onsite installation services for our residential customers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring a seamless experience for our customers as they connect to Socket's fiber network. This role will require travel to our various service areas and will be required to work in most conditions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Follow all installation procedures
  • Detailed and accurate documentation
  • Handles questions and concerns presented by customers or vendors
  • Completes all steps to ensure successful turn-up of services
  • Knowledge of how to pull cable, terminate, cable standards, closet build outs, and building/fire codes
  • Install and repair phone lines, DSL, and other related services
  • Installation of cabling at customer/business premise
  • Able to configure various modems
  • Experience with CAT 3 and CAT 5 cabling
  • LAN/WAN experience
  • Ability to test and install customer ADSL, xDSL circuit orders with the appropriate LEC
  • Ability to maintain a clear driving record, and valid license
  • Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class E driver’s license prior to the first day of employment

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in the telecommunications field
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to use tools
  • Being able to lift up to 70lbs
  • Ability to differentiate between colors
  • Must be able to safely climb and descend ladders or other structures up to 28ft. Occasionally higher.
  • Ensure the safe operation of a bucket truck in strict adherence to all safety protocols, including compliance with weight limit guidelines.
