About the Role:

The Warehouse Supervisor located in our Ypsilanti Warehouse will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, tagging all incoming and outgoing loads, and coordinating closely with program managers to ensure timely follow-up on shipments. This position oversees a small team of 2 to 3 staff members, maintaining efficient daily operations with a strong emphasis on inventory accuracy and material flow. The Supervisor will also manage the safe operation of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and pallet jacks. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills are critical to maintaining a compliant, productive warehouse environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and oversee invoices from various suppliers related to Ypsilanti warehouse operations.
  • Utilize ERP systems to streamline warehouse procedures.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary tools and equipment, including SU and SD forklifts, in optimal condition.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills to address operational challenges.
  • Maintain direct communication with clients and suppliers to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Take responsibility for internal purchases necessary for warehouse operations.
  • Generate month-end reports for the warehouse department, including data entry and system updates.
  • Verify that all processes in the warehouse adhere to established Work Instructions.
  • Conduct daily warehouse tours to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Implement space optimization strategies within the warehouse.
  • Ensure proper identification and labeling of materials for each program.
  • Oversee and verify the correct storage and weight distribution of materials on racks.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and ensure efficient warehouse operations.
  • Ability to analyze data, monitor performance metrics, and implement improvements to optimize efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with warehouse employees and customers who have inquiries and require directions.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Consistently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina. 
  • Work is in a warehouse environment with concrete floors that has exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds and respond to moving vehicles.

 

CANDIDATE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (Preferred but not required).
  • 2 -3 years of experience in warehouse operations or logistics, with at least 1 year  in a supervisory or leader type role.
  • Experience with inventory management systems, order fulfillment, and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Certified and able to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling tools.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) to interact with team members, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Experience with inventory control and auditing, ensuring accuracy in stock levels and order fulfillment.
  • Microsoft Office tools and WMS/ ERP experience required.
