Careers at Soluna

GM, Data Center Development

Soluna is on a mission to solve one of renewable energy’s biggest challenges: wasted power. Our data centers convert excess solar, hydro, and wind energy into productive computational work, such as Bitcoin mining, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. By co-locating with renewable power sources, we bring demand directly to the source, helping power plants increase revenue while contributing more megawatts to the grid.

We are looking for a General Manager, Data Center Development to join our world-class team.

The Data Center Development expert will lead our AI infrastructure business. This role will report to the CEO as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will be responsible for the strategy, development, delivery, and commercialization of large-scale data center projects purpose-built for AI workloads.

The ideal candidate has directly owned and overseen major hyperscale data center developments in the AI space, brings deep industry knowledge, and has strong relationships across utilities, power providers, hyperscalers, and infrastructure partners. This role is accountable for getting data centers built, powered, and filled with AI clients.

You will:

  • Lead Soluna’s hyperscale data center business as a General Manager, with accountability for strategy, delivery, commercialization, and performance.
  • Align infrastructure growth with long-term energy capacity.
  • Define data center platform strategy, development roadmap, and customer prioritization in alignment with power availability and grid realities.
  • Own end-to-end development and delivery of large-scale hyperscale data center projects, from early site evaluation through commissioning and operations.
  • Define data center requirements, basis of design, phasing plans, and delivery timelines optimized for AI and HPC workloads.
  • Lead and coordinate development partners, including EPCs, engineers, architects and technology vendors.
  • Ensure development schedules and technical designs align with power interconnection and delivery plans.
  • Identify and advance data center sites based on customer demand, scalability, and speed-to-market considerations.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Power on power development and grid integration activities.
  • Own hyperscaler and AI customer relationships, including demand shaping, negotiations, and long-term commitments.
  • Translate customer requirements into data center design, delivery schedules, and commercial structures.
  • Represent Soluna externally with hyperscalers, neoclouds, infrastructure partners, and industry stakeholders as part of a unified leadership team
  • Maintain a strong understanding of hyperscale and AI infrastructure market dynamics.
  • Identify strategic partners, vendors, and customers required to accelerate development and utilization.
  • Bring market insight back to the senior leadership team to inform investment, growth, and partnership decisions.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • 15+ years of experience in large, complex infrastructure development
  • 5+ years in hyperscale data centers, digital infrastructure, or AI-related development
  • Proven track record owning and delivering large, complex data center projects (100MW+ preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of power infrastructure, utility engagement, and grid interconnections
  • Established relationships with hyperscalers, AI platforms, utilities, and key industry partners
