Department Overview

The primary function of the Product department is to define and communicate the strategy and direction that dictates the future of Sonar’s products & applications, in order to deliver a solution that empowers our users to scale and improve their businesses in meaningful ways. We accomplish this by actively linking together the communicated needs of our users, and emerging industry trends, with the various internal teams at Sonar, helping to optimize the journey from initial idea, to deployment, and beyond.


Role Overview
As a Technical Product Manager at Sonar Software, you’ll play a pivotal role in defining and delivering scalable, technically sound solutions that drive real impact for our customers. You’ll join our growing Product team in a remote-first environment, where autonomy, clarity, and curiosity are core values.

This role sits at the intersection of product vision and technical execution. You’ll lead one of our key product workstreams, collaborating closely with Engineering, DevOps, and QA to ensure we’re building robust solutions that align with our broader strategic goals. Our product landscape spans billing, service provisioning, network monitoring, and more, giving you exposure to a wide range of technical and user experience challenges. Responsibilities

  • Own the discovery, definition, and delivery of product capabilities—both within Sonar and at integration points with external systems.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Architecture to guide the design of scalable, maintainable systems.
  • Translate complex business needs into technical specs, diagrams, and interface definitions that developers can execute on.
  • Evaluate trade-offs across complexity, performance, UX, and delivery timelines to ensure sound decision-making.
  • Drive product delivery end-to-end, from scoping to release to iteration.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the development process.
  • Monitor product performance, bugs, and emerging technical trends to help inform roadmap priorities.
  • Act as a technical advisor to Product leadership and customer-facing teams when needed.

Qualifications


Must-Haves

Technical Experience & Attributes


  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a role centered around software development or systems architecture/design.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, APIs, and technical workflows.
  • Experience in a cross-functional software development role, ideally within a B2B SaaS environment leveraging CI/CD practices. Familiarity with any of the following would be an asset: PHP, Postgres, VueJS, GraphQL, websockets.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical artifacts like user stories, workflow diagrams, or interface specs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to distill complex ideas for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fully remote setting, managing priorities with minimal oversight.
  • Industry experience in telecommunications or ISP-related domains is a strong plus.

  • Ability to communicate effectively via virtual platforms: This role requires frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders through video calls, phone calls, and email.
  • Reliable internet connection: A stable and high-speed internet connection is essential for performing daily tasks and participating in virtual meetings.
  • Adequate home office setup: The candidate must have a quiet and dedicated workspace that is free from distractions to ensure productivity and maintain confidentiality.
  • Visual acuity: Good vision is necessary for reviewing detailed documents and data on computer screens.
  • Manual dexterity: The ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment is required.
  • Occasional travel: While this position is primarily remote, there may be occasional requirements for travel to company meetings or training sessions.
