Who We're Looking For

Spark Networks is searching for a self-driven Data Engineer to join our team. We’re in the business of connecting people, and your role will be all about connecting data. As the owner behind our data pipelines, you’ll help ensure

that our Marketing, Product, and Finance teams have the insights they need.

What You'll Do

  • You’ll kick off your week with a Replenishment Meeting to get aligned on tasks and priorities. Through daily stand-ups, we’ll ensure that all tickets are clearly defined so you can move them smoothly to “In Progress” without any roadblocks
  • At the heart of online dating is Big Data, and you’ll dive deep into our AWS Data Infrastructure to apply your data expertise. You’ll design and deploy scalable data pipelines to collect semi-structured data and transform large datasets of user information into actionable insights.
  • Moving from insight to impact requires a well-organized Data Lakehouse. You’ll be responsible for categorizing and staging AWS S3 bronze data into Redshift and Snowflake, helping Analytics teams leverage dbt Cloud models and Sigma to perform their magic.
  • Data should flow seamlessly across multiple systems, and you’ll ensure it connects to destinations like CDPs, Engagement Platforms, Media Partners, and Product Analytics platforms. You’ll drive real-time analytics and automation to support these integrations.
  • Lastly, as a key part of the team, you’ll be a guardian of data governance, ensuring robust documentation and version control in GitLab to prevent shadow engineering and maintain high-quality standards.

Who You Are

  • Seasoned Pro: 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, ideally with AWS data architectures and a Snowflake specialty.
  • Airflow Aficionado: Extensive hands-on experience building and maintaining multi-source Python-based ETL pipelines with Apache Airflow.
  • Snowflake Specialist: In-depth experience designing and optimizing data models in Snowflake, leveraging its features for scalable data warehousing, efficient querying, and seamless integration with other data platforms for advanced analytics.
  • Lambda & EventBridge Enthusiast: Hands-on experience building serverless solutions with AWS Lambdas and setting up event-driven workflows using AWS EventBridge to create smooth, scalable data processes.
  • Firehose & Apache Iceberg Advocate: Experience using AWS Kinesis Firehose for Change Data Capture, integrating with Apache Iceberg to manage large-scale, versioned datasets, ensuring efficient storage and querying for analytics workloads.
