As a Backend Engineer at Spark Networks, you will be a key player in developing and optimizing our platform. Your mission will involve designing new features, improving existing codebase, and ensuring the operability of our applications. You will work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment to deliver maximum value for our customers and contribute to our continuous improvement.

We prefer candidates to be based in Berlin, as we encourage everyone to join us in the office at least two days a week to foster collaboration and team spirit.

What You'll Do

• Product Development: Design and implement new features, improve existing codebase in accordance with our agile practices (Kanban/Scrum, XP, CI, TDD, Pair Programming). Collaborate closely with the product team.
• Application Operability: Work in a DevOps environment to ensure fast and stable software delivery.
• Continuous Improvement: Learn new things, experiment, and have the courage to fail fast. Bring your strengths to work and use them to improve the team.
• Feature Implementation: Collaborate with other Spark teams and product to implement new features.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize application performance to ensure smooth user experiences.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience developing large-scale production applications in Java.
• Experience with service-oriented architecture.
• Familiarity with AWS and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Cloudflare, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, SonarQube, and Gitlab is a plus.
• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
