A Day in the Life:

  • Lead cross-functional engineering teams through all project phases — from concept design to construction closeout — ensuring alignment with technical, budget, and schedule goals.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and internal stakeholders to translate complex design requirements into actionable deliverables.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for quality, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Manage RFI and submittal processes, providing timely technical guidance to contractors and field teams.
  • Oversee project schedules and budgets, proactively identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate design review meetings, ensuring stakeholder feedback is captured and implemented effectively.
  • Interface with contractors, commissioning agents, and authorities having jurisdiction to support permitting, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Resolve design conflicts and drive decisions that balance innovation, functionality, and long-term reliability.
  • Support construction administration efforts with field observations, punch lists, and documentation reviews.

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design and construction of mission-critical or industrial facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline engineering teams and manage consultant performance.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, vendors, and jurisdictions.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and comfort working within structured processes for scheduling, budgeting, and documentation control.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical details for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, startup processes, and construction sequencing.
  • PE or RA license preferred, reflecting advanced technical and professional expertise.
