About the Role
Project Managers at Spearhead are committed to delivering the Spearhead process and product at the highest level. Positioned as an advanced role within the company, Project Managers take the lead in guiding teams to meticulously plan, strategize, and execute exceptional residential and commercial projects across North America. In a distinctive approach that challenges the status quo, Project Managers are active participants in redefining the roles of Design Assist and Fabrication, ensuring that Spearhead functions as a project strategist and not merely a parts maker. 
 
The position is anchored in a commitment to continuous learning and growth within the Digital Planning department, actively contributing to the organization’s success and enhancing overall project management capabilities within the company. Independently managing projects of moderate scale and complexity, Project Managers play a pivotal role while also providing active support to Senior Project Managers on a project-specific basis.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Role within Project Team
    • Leads project teams to ensure the successful execution of exceptional projects. 
    • Oversees multiple projects, managing workloads through well-communicated task delegation to various team members.
    • Provides support to the Senior Project Management group on a project-specific basis, leveraging their extensive experience.
  • Project Execution
    • Scope Definition and Planning
      • Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables.
      • Develops comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets.
      • Identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies.
    • Efficiency and Problem-Solving
      • Ensures optimal project efficiency by addressing scope intricacies, coordination interfaces, fabrication processes, and comprehensive installation strategies.
      • Proactively anticipates and addresses challenges during the project.
      • Implements effective solutions to overcome obstacles and keep the project on track.
    • Design Assist Leadership
      • Independently leads Design Assist efforts on small to medium size/complexity projects.
      • Supports Senior Project Managers with Design Assist objectives on various projects.
  • Modelling & Drafting: 
    • Self-performs, monitors, and approves all modelling, drafting, and documentation on a project-specific basis.
    • Manages submittal process ensuring clear documentation and timely approvals.
  • Estimates, Quotations & Contracts: 
    • Develops accurate estimates, proposals, and quotations with efficient scope analysis strategies.
    • Engages internal stakeholders for comprehensive pricing reviews.
    • Assumes responsibility for contract execution, ensuring compliance and accuracy – in consultation with the CFO.
    • Manages contract review and negotiations.
  • Budget Management: 
    • Develops and maintains project budgets, ensuring professional management of expense tracking, project monitoring, and CO management.
    • Submits well-organized monthly invoicing packages to the Financial Department.
  • Monitoring and Scheduling: 
    • Tracks project progress against milestones and deliverables.
    • Responsible for creating, refining, and consistently updating project timelines, aligned with organizational goals and requirements. 
  • Procurement & Purchasing: 
    • Responsible for project-specific procurement, including all relevant subcontractor agreements.
    • Oversees all project-specific purchasing – in consultation with the Purchasing role.
  • Fabrication Oversight:
    • Ensures effective communication of project goals and quality expectations to the Fabrication team. 
    • Monitors project-specific fabrication efforts, collaborating seamlessly with various roles within Fabrication and Operations to meet project expectations and QA/QC standards.
    • Responsible for QA/QC documentation in collaboration with the Fabrication department.
  • Communication: 
    • Establishes clear communication channels within the team and with stakeholders.
    • Manages external project-specific communication, seeking input from Senior Project Managers and Management for communication strategy development.
    • Inspires confidence in external stakeholders by demonstrating ingenuity, clear communication, and professionalism.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Proactively identifies and engages project stakeholders as required.
    • Nurtures strategic relationships to actively generate new project opportunities.
Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in timber engineering, architecture, project management, construction management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of proven industry experience in Project Management, specifically in fabrication, architecture, or construction.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with BIM software and project management tools.
  • Respect for confidential information.
Bonus Qualifications:
  • Project management certification (PMP or equivalent).
  • Experience with Cadwork, Revit, Rhino, and/or Grasshopper.
  • Hands-on experience in construction (e.g., timber frame, carpentry, steel erection, etc.).
  • Experience working within an ERP framework (such as Infor CSI) considered an asset.
  • Strong graphic sensibility.
Compensation
  • Competitive compensation packages. Remuneration depends on experience and qualifications (base salary bracket of $85,000 - $100,000 / year).
