Role: Inventory & Receiving Coordinator

Location: Nelson, BC

Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

Role Status: Full-time, Permanent

Role Overview

The Inventory & Receiving Coordinator is essential to maintaining the smooth and efficient movement of materials into, within, and out of the facility. This position is responsible for accurate goods receiving, organization of inbound materials, and maintaining reliable inventory levels to support daily operations. The role ensures that essential supplies are always available, properly identified, and stored in the correct locations, contributing directly to operational readiness and workflow continuity across the site.

Working closely with the Supply Chain, Fabrication, and Operations Teams, this role supports both administrative and hands‑on material handling tasks. The position conducts routine inventory counts, generates purchase requisitions, and assists with local vendor drop-offs and collections. Over time, the role will further develop skills related to packaging, loading, and unloading trucks.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Goods Receiving & Quality Checks

  • Perform administrative receiving of inbound materials, verifying quantities, descriptions, and documentation against purchase orders and updating electronic records accordingly
  • Conduct light quality checks on incoming products and report discrepancies or damages promptly
  • Accurately label, identify, and document all received goods to ensure traceability and proper storage


 Inbound Product Sorting

  • Put away received materials efficiently and accurately into designated storage areas
  • Deliver items directly to internal requesters or work areas when appropriate to support workflow continuity
  • Maintain organized, clean, and clearly labeled storage zones to optimize accessibility and material flow

 

Cycle Counts & Inventory Control

  • Perform routine cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies early
  • Monitor stock levels for essential supplies and initiate replenishment through purchase requisition creation
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory accuracy, stockroom organization, and material availability

 

Vendor Drop‑Offs and Collections

  • Conduct scheduled and ad‑hoc vendor drop-offs and pickups to support site operations and ensure timely movement of materials
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding delivery requirements, timing, and documentation

 

Packaging, Loading, and Unloading

  • Assist with packaging, staging, loading, and unloading of inbound and outbound trucks
  • Develop skills in safe material handling practices to increasingly support logistics operations
  • Operate material handling equipment (e.g. pallet jacks, forklifts) once trained and certified, ensuring adherence to safety protocols

 

General Shop & Team Support

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, following all safety policies and procedures
  • Collaborate closely with the Logistics, Fabrication, Operations and other teams to support efficient material flow across the site
  • Participate in cross-training and skill development activities to support flexibility within the logistics team
  • Foster a safety-first environment by adhering to all safety protocols and best practices

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Attributes

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, or logistics environments
  • Knowledge of inventory control, shipping documentation, and material handling practices
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and warehouse equipment (Desirable)
  • Ability to operate a computer daily, experience using ProcureDesk is considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail with solid organizational and time-management skills
  • Physically capable of lifting materials and working on your feet in a fast-paced setting
  • Reliable team player with good communication skills and a strong commitment to workplace safety

 

Schedule and Working Conditions

  • Ability to work from 08:30-17:00, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Ability to work on-site at Spearhead headquarters
  • On-call availability for emergency deliveries outside regular hours
  • Ability to stand and move around the shops for work shifts
  • Ability to work in a workshop with exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise using required PPE
  • Ability to move and carry materials up to 30 lbs on a regular basis 


Compensation

  • Pay range is $65k-75k commensurate with experience and qualifications
