What You Will Do:
As Lead Structural Engineer, you will drive both the innovation and technical excellence of Sperra’s structural projects. You will lead the design, analysis, and assessment of new structural systems using 3D printed concrete, ensuring compliance with applicable codes while exploring groundbreaking solutions.
Primary responsibilities:
- Lead structural design and analysis for complex concrete structures, including novel 3D printed systems
- Develop and evaluate innovative structural solutions, balancing code compliance, performance, and manufacturability
- Conduct and review analyses using SAP2000, ABAQUS, or similar software
- Collaborate closely with R&D, design, and manufacturing teams to push the boundaries of construction technology
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior engineers
- Communicate complex structural concepts clearly to internal teams, partners, and clients
- Contribute to proposals, reports, and presentations for funding agencies and clients
Qualifications:
Required:
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on concrete and structural steel design for both standard and non-standard structures
- Proficiency in SAP2000, ABAQUS, or similar structural analysis software
- Strong knowledge of relevant concrete and steel codes and standards, including marine and offshore applications
- Proven experience leading structural engineering projects from concept through fabrication and field deployment
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, able to guide teams and present complex ideas clearly
Preferred:
- Experience with non-standard or novel structural assemblies
- Hands-on experience with 3D concrete printing or other large-scale additive manufacturing methods
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative structural solutions while balancing compliance, safety, and performance constraints
- Experience with offshore or marine infrastructure projects

- Annual salary of $120,000 to $160,000
- Hybrid work at Sperra’s Rochester, NY or Los Angeles, CA facilities
