Job Purpose


To assist the Medical Providers in the facilitation of care. This role is supportive in nature and will be

responsible for patient education, follow up and service.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, to include blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, current pain level and document all information in the patient’s medical record.
  • Assist Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner in exam room during office procedures.
  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner regarding prescribed medications and/or ordered procedures.
  • Administer Toradol intramuscular injections as ordered; Educate on how to take oral Toradol medication by using the “5 Rights” of medication administration. Document in patient’s chart
  • When triaging calls, LPN assesses for pain, utilizes pain scale, documents accordingly prior to communicating with Medical Provider.
  • Schedule patients per Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner orders.
  • Request medical records including imaging reports or previous procedures performed outside SpineOne clinic and upload into patient’s chart.
  • File all incoming reports in the patient medical record prior to any upcoming appointment.
  • Ensure all reviewed reports in the patient medical record are signed by the Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner after each visit.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain all spine models and ensure Clinical Symposium books are available in every exam room.
  • Actively monitors and coordinates the supply for educational pamphlets, medical supplies, and cleaning supplies for clinic.
  • Monitor incoming faxes and address in a timely manner.
  • Check voicemail frequently and provide feedback and answers to patients/physicians/pharmacy calls. All calls need to be contacted before you leave for the day.
  • Triage calls from patients and front office staff prior to giving a message to a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Have basic knowledge of side effects, normal dosage and contraindications of all medications given.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of all procedures to help educate preoperatively and triage patient questions and concerns post-operative.
  • Monitor patients for any adverse drug reactions and reports any adverse drug reactions immediately to Medical Provider and document in patient’s chart.
  • Anticipates emergent situations and intervenes early and appropriately.
  • Transcribes and administers medications and treatments accurately in patient’s chart practicing the “5 rights” of medication administration.
  • Ensure proper clearance is obtained from outside medical provider for any patients that are on blood thinners prior scheduling all surgical procedures.
  • Initiate and coordinate patient referrals for patients as needed and monitor closely for completion and patient follow-up.
  • Uses good nursing judgment and needs minimal supervision, however, can seek help from Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, or Nursing Manager when needed.
  • Create letters for patients as needed (FMLA, out of work, etc.)
  • Assist with medical chart reviews required for Motor Vehicle Accident attorney cases.
  • Create/Review/Update letters as needed.
  • Provides thorough unit orientation to new staff. Utilizes a manner that is friendly and welcoming.
  • Educate patients on policy regarding long term pain management.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse Active license in good standing.
  • Previous experience in health care facility business office desired.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • Ability to work within the team independently.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to use a computer, multi-line phone system, and other office machines.
  • Excellent professional, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skill and phone etiquette.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.

  • Utilizes time effectively.
  • Maintains dress and appearance according to standards as observed by management.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and professional manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of how to operate machinery (thermometers, BP cuffs, EMR on computers).

  • Must be CPR/BLS certified.

The pay range for this role is:

26.50 - 32.50 USD per hour (SpineOne - Lone Tree)
