Job Description
The MRI Technologist will be responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images are produced while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of MRI equipment, patient care, and safety protocols, and will be committed to delivering excellent service to patients. Work schedule is Monday - Friday. No weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- MRI Scans: Perform MRI scans on patients according to the prescribed examination, ensuring proper positioning and technique to capture clear and accurate images.
- Patient Care: Explain the MRI procedure to patients, address any concerns, and ensure they are comfortable and informed throughout the imaging process.
- Safety Protocols: Follow safety guidelines, including the proper screening of patients for contraindications (e.g., metal implants, pacemakers, etc.) and ensuring the safe operation of MRI equipment.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain MRI equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly. Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major malfunctions to the appropriate department.
- Image Quality: Review MRI images for quality and make adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal diagnostic quality.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging results, patient history, and procedural details.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other medical staff to ensure effective communication and timely delivery of results.
- Maintain Sterile Environment: Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of MRI rooms and equipment in accordance with the facility guidelines.
- Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in MRI technology, imaging protocols, and safety practices through continuous professional development.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Completion of an accredited MRI Technologist program or Radiologic Technology program with MRI certification.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Registered MRI Technologist (ARRT) or equivalent certification, with a valid license to practice in the state.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience:
- Prior experience as an MRI Technologist is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with various MRI imaging protocols and Siemens equipment.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality images.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and often high-pressure environment.
- Knowledge of MRI safety standards and patient care protocols.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move patients as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to tolerate potentially long shifts and varied work hours
