Manager, OAS

The Manager, Outsourced Accounting Services, is a client-facing leadership role responsible for the delivery, quality, and performance of outsourced accounting engagements. This position serves as the primary day-to-day relationship manager for assigned clients and is accountable for ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant accounting services across billing, general ledger management, and financial reporting. 

The Manager leads a team of 5–6 accounting professionals — providing oversight, coaching, and performance management — while also actively supporting business development through client expansion and cross-sell opportunity identification. This role plays a critical part in driving service excellence, operational discipline, and scalable growth across the Outsourced Accounting practice. 

What you’ll do at SN: 

Client Service & Engagement Leadership

  • Serve as the primary client contact for assigned outsourced accounting engagements; build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with client executives including CFOs, Controllers, and firm leadership. 
  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of outsourced accounting services, including billing, general ledger management, and financial statement preparation. 
  • Plan, lead, and participate in monthly and quarterly client review meetings, presenting financial results, variance analyses, KPIs, and actionable recommendations. 
  • Manage engagement scope, timelines, and service levels, ensuring commitments are consistently met. 
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve delivery risks or issues proactively and professionally. 

Quality Control & Technical Oversight

  • Act as the final review point for key client deliverables prior to release; ensure all work is performed in compliance with GAAP and firm standards. 
  • Promote consistency, accuracy, and documentation quality across all engagements. 
  • Support audits, reviews, and special projects by coordinating responses and validating submitted materials. 
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency, and scalability. 

Business Development & Practice Growth

  • Actively support business development by participating in prospect and discovery calls and contributing to solution design, scoping, and pricing discussions. 
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and expand services within existing client relationships; target 10 qualified opportunities annually. 
  • Collaborate with leadership and marketing on thought leadership, case studies, and service enhancements. 
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, client challenges, and competitive offerings to inform service development. 

People Management & Team Leadership

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and development for a team of Accounting Specialists and Senior Accountants. 
  • Assign and prioritize work, balance team workloads, and ensure timely completion of all tasks and deliverables. 
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide regular structured feedback, and support ongoing professional development. 
  • Partner with leadership on staffing plans, onboarding, training, and succession planning for the outsourced accounting team. 

Operational & Financial Management

  • Monitor engagement performance including realization, utilization, and adherence to scope. 
  • Partner with leadership to improve efficiency, margin performance, and scalability through standardization and process improvement. 
  • Leverage accounting technology and ERP platforms to drive automation and data quality across client engagements. 

What you may have done before:  

  • Managed an accounting or finance team internally
  • Provided managerial level accounting services as a consultant for external clients

What it takes to be a Manager, OAS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial responsibilities. 
  • Prior experience in outsourced accounting, professional services, or consulting environments strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple client engagements concurrently. 
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. 
  • CPA or active progress toward CPA licensure preferred.

Salary: The salary range for this position is an estimate of $125,000 - 145,000. A final compensation offer within this range will be based on factors including an individual’s skill sets, experience, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and geography.
