About the role
As a Technical Artist, you will document and support the game art pipelines and techniques used by the production teams on the project. You'll develop tools, maintain the production pipeline, and collaborate with artists and engineers to bring creative visions to life. (We are open to both global remote and hybrid for this project based contract)
What you'll do
- Foster a collaborative environment by actively sharing experience and knowledge with team members.
- Conduct training sessions on processes, procedures, game engines, and tools to enhance the skillset of team members.
- Document art processes comprehensively and contribute to defining the art pipeline for the assigned project.
- Establish and document efficient workflows for art production, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Provide ongoing support to artists and engineers throughout the 3D art pipeline.
- Assist in asset performance optimization and validation processes.
- Identify and report technical and performance issues to the development team promptly.
- Collaborate with the development team to solve complex technical challenges.
- Determine software and tooling requirements for the project, ensuring smooth integration and operation.
- Implement finished art assets into game engines, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
- Verify final art assets to ensure they function as intended at final full resolutions.
- Uphold departmental standards and guidelines established by leadership.
- Demonstrate versatile proficiency within various game engines.
- Optimize environments and establish physics barriers to enhance gameplay experience.
- Prepare and design systems within the engine, including skeletons, cloth simulation,
effect emitters, and ragdoll collision. - Stay updated on the latest systems and features within the engine through continuous
research and experimentation. - Research and oversee the implementation of cutting-edge rendering techniques to elevate visual quality.
- Develop advanced shaders and materials to achieve desired aesthetic and technical outcomes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve material errors and collision issues efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation for future reference.
- Contribute to team efforts and perform additional tasks to support department goals as
needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
- Enthusiasm and passion for working in the gaming industry.
- Insight into animation workflows and processes.
- Openness to receiving and implementing feedback from Supervisors and Leads.
- Effective communication of workflow-related issues or questions with teammates and supervisors.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate collaboration.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on achieving results.
- Willingness to openly share knowledge and expertise with others.
- Proficiency in standard office software such as Word, Excel, and OneNote.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software packages such as Maya, 3DSMax, and Photoshop.
- Interest and basic proficiency in scripting and programming using Max Script, Python, C Sharp, etc.
- Excellent time management and prioritization abilities to meet project deadlines.
- Technical proficiency in both 2D and 3D art disciplines.
- Understanding of art asset pipelines and production processes.
- Ability to comprehend and articulate technical issues from an aesthetic perspective.
