About the role
Steamroller Animation Studios is hiring a General Counsel with 5+ years and has experience in employment, contract, IP, and entertainment law. Responsibilities include drafting contracts, providing legal advice, managing disputes, and ensuring compliance. JD degree and licensing to practice in Florida required. Competitive salary. (This role will allow you to work from home a majority of the time with the exception of a few times per month or as needed)
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including but
not limited to client agreements, vendor contracts, licensing
agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. - Provide legal guidance on intellectual property matters, including
copyright, trademark, and trade secret issues. - Advise on compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing the
entertainment industry, including labor and employment law, data
protection, and privacy regulations. - Assist in the resolution of legal disputes and manage any litigation
matters that may arise. - Manage relationship with external parties that specialize in legal
matters outside of normal scope of work, including tax, intellectual
property, litigation, etc. - Collaborate with internal teams, including senior leadership,
production, finance, and HR, to ensure legal compliance and mitigate
risk. - Stay abreast of legal developments and industry trends that may
impact the company's operations and provide proactive advice to
senior management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on
contract law, intellectual property, and entertainment law. - Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active
membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association. - Proven track record of drafting and negotiating complex commercial
contracts. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess
legal risks and provide practical solutions. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external parties. - Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all work.
