What you'll do

  • Analyze partner supplied lighting reference and oversee the delivery cultivated Realtime lighting for a variety of characters and poses
  • Ensure consistent and clear character lighting for staging, priority read, and stylistic continuity
  • Utilize traditional principles such as color harmony, and value balance to inform artistic decisions
  • Lead and mentor the lighting team, effectively communicating art direction and best practices for workflow efficiency
  • Establish and document best practices and techniques for dissemination to the lighting team
  • Share expertise to support skill development within the team
  • Communicate effectively with partners, internal creative leadership, and teammates to align on vision and resolve workflow issues
  • Maintain an organized and efficient production pipeline to meet workflow needs
  • Ensure tasks align with bid estimates and proactively address roadblocks
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues using in-depth knowledge of feature animation and real-time pipelines
  • Ensure render passes and outputs meet delivery requirements
  • Contribute to team efforts and perform additional tasks to support department goals as needed

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Maya and Unreal Engine lighting workflows
  • Deep understanding of Unreal Engine’s Skylight and Atmosphere systems
  • Experience with both real-time lighting in Unreal Engine and offline rendering using tools like Redshift
  • Familiarity with Unreal Sequencer and rendering pipelines is a plus
  • Previous experience in a feature animation or cinematic real-time pipeline
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges based on past experience
  • Excellent organizational and collaborative workflow skills
  • Strong communication skills in English to effectively convey feedback and direction
  • Ability to take and implement feedback from external and internal leadership
  • Enthusiasm for the industry and passion for delivering high-quality creative work
  • A proactive approach to addressing workflow challenges and contributing to team success
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
