Animator

BC, Canada: 4-6 month assignment, Remote work


We're looking for mid- to senior-level Animators to join our team, contributing to a 4-6 month project. In this role, you will be guided by experienced Animation Supervisors and Leads, tackling tasks that range from intermediate to complex, all while adhering to production schedules and deadlines to deliver high-quality final animations. Ideal candidates should have a strong understanding of pose construction and human anatomy, as well as a strong grasp of reference usage and animation principles. Success in this role hinges on a drive to learn, problem-solving independently and with a team, and an active engagement in both studio and project processes. This is a work-from-home position contracted by our studio located in British Columbia. All candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.


What you’ll do


  • Collaborate on animation tasks and projects with the team.

  • Comfortable with working on R-rated content

  • Produce high-quality stylized realistic hand key animations on shot-based work.

  • Must be able to animate a strong sense of weight both physically and emotionally

  • Align delivery of work with project requirements and artistic direction.

  • Interact with Production leadership and adhere to shot deadlines.

  • Implement changes and finalize shots on schedule.

  • Participate in dailies, rounds, and team reviews.

  • Decipher and apply feedback to enhance animation quality.

  • Communicate workflow and/or deadline concerns to Production and Leadership.

  • Attend training sessions and potentially conduct Supervisor-approved training.

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of production tools.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four (4) years of studio production experience.

  • Efficient team and independent work capabilities. 

  • Proficiency in Autodesk's Maya.

  • Versatility in animation styles.

  • Strong understanding of animation principles, including weight, physics, balance, appeal, clear timing, spacing, and staging.

  • Effective use of reference and research.

  • Knowledge of human and animal anatomy.

  • Emotion conveyance through body language and facial expressions.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Clear communication with Production and Leadership.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English. 

  • Professional attitude during meetings and while working with fellow Steammates.

  • Experience with motion capture and creature animation is a plus, but not required.

This salary range provided reflects our current expectations for these roles as of this posting’s date. Your final salary offer will take into account various key factors, including your education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographical location, as well as the needs and requirements of the business.
