Overview
The Instructional Coach, Mathematics (6–8) will be responsible for supporting and improving instructional practices in middle school mathematics classrooms through collaboration with teachers, professional development, and data-driven instruction. This position will primarily focus on mathematical pedagogy, coaching strategies, and curriculum alignment, and be able to model effective teaching methods, provide individualized coaching, and ensure instructional practices align with state and district standards to enhance student learning outcomes

Essential Duties

  • Support and Improve Instructional Practices
    • Collaborate with teachers to enhance lesson planning, instruction, and assessment.
    • Model effective teaching strategies in classrooms (e.g., differentiated instruction, inquiry-based learning).
    • Observe lessons and provide non-evaluative feedback.
  • Facilitate Professional Development
    • Design and lead workshops, learning communities, and training sessions tailored to school or district goals.
    • Help teachers implement new curriculum standards, teaching tools, or instructional frameworks.
    • Promote ongoing adult learning and reflective practice.
  • Use Data to Drive Instruction
    • Assist teachers in analyzing assessment data (formative and summative) to inform instruction.
    • Guide teams in setting instructional goals based on student needs.
    • Support data-driven decision-making during team meetings or PLCs (Professional Learning Communities).
  • Provide Individualized Coaching and Mentoring
    • Offer one-on-one or small group coaching tailored to each teacher's goals and areas of growth.
    • Help new or struggling teachers with classroom management, instructional design, and student engagement.
    • Build trust and maintain a collaborative, supportive relationship.
  • Support Curriculum Implementation and Alignment
    • Ensure curriculum fidelity and alignment with state or district standards.
    • Help teachers unpack standards and plan units/lessons accordingly.
    • Collaborate with school leaders to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment across grade levels.


Knowledge, Skills & Attributes 

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of successful middle school mathematics teaching experience
  • Strong knowledge of middle school mathematics content and pedagogy, including differentiated instruction and inquiry-based learning
  • Ability to analyze and use student assessment data to guide instruction
  • Skilled in providing non-evaluative, constructive feedback and coaching to teachers
  • Experience facilitating adult learning, PLCs, and collaborative planning
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build collaborative relationships with teachers and administrators
  • Ability to support curriculum alignment and ensure fidelity to state and district standards
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and data tools commonly used in Texas schools
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or leading professional development (preferred)


Education & Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field is required
  • A valid Texas teaching certificate (with an endorsement in Mathematics (4–8 or 6–8)).
  • Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field would be preferred.

46,000 - 58,000 USD per year (Remote (Texas, US))
