Stellar Virtual was founded in 2019 with one school in Texas. We serve parents of K-12 students, unhappy with their current school, or needing an at-home/flexible learning environment. Today, Stellar Virtual has grown to six  schools across three states: Texas, Arizona and Indiana. Stellar Virtual is committed to going above and beyond for our virtual families.

Position Overview
The School Counselor of Grades K-8 at Stellar Virtual in Arizona plays a critical role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students in a virtual learning environment. This position is dedicated to enhancing student success through preventive services, personalized interventions, and ongoing collaboration with educators, families, and community resources. The School Counselor will develop and implement strategies that address the diverse needs of students, ensuring they have the resources and support necessary to thrive academically and personally.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist families in accessing relevant community and government resources, such as transportation, insurance, mental health services, and food assistance.
  • Participate in and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Work closely with teachers, staff, families, and community organizations to address and support students' needs within the educational environment.
  • Develop, teach, and monitor social, emotional, and behavioral interventions to enhance student achievement.
  • Utilize skill-based interventions to assist students facing academic, social, or emotional challenges.
  • Provide individual and group support to students.
  • Facilitate support groups addressing personal, social, and academic needs.
  • Educate school staff on protocols related to suicide prevention, self-injury, child safety reporting, bullying prevention, and harassment issues.
  • Offer counseling services to students frequently referred for tardiness or absenteeism.
  • Use student data to design, implement, and evaluate school-wide intervention strategies.
  • Support and contribute to school-wide prevention initiatives.
  • Assist with the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) across the campus.
  • Conduct parent education programs and community outreach activities.
  • Coordinate, develop, and maintain 504 plans for students requiring accommodations.
  • Participate in special education meetings as needed to advocate for students and collaborate on educational goals.
  • Foster a culture of wellness and self-care within the school community.
  • Attend required program training sessions and implement social-emotional learning strategies.
  • Adhere to the responsibilities outlined by the American School Counselor Association.
  • Fulfill the requirements of the SSP-ESSER Program, serving the school to which the funding is awarded.


Knowledge, Skills & Attributes 

  • Arizona Educational Standards: Familiarity with state academic standards, graduation requirements, and relevant regulations.
  • Counseling Theories and Practices: Understanding of counseling theories, social-emotional learning (SEL), and the ASCA National Model.
  • Crisis Intervention: Proficiency in crisis management, including suicide prevention and conflict resolution.
  • College and Career Readiness: Knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, and career planning.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze student data to inform decisions and interventions.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with students, families, and staff.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and community resources.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Cultural Competence: Sensitivity to and respect for the cultural and socioeconomic diversity of students.
  • Technological Proficiency: Competence in using digital tools and student information systems.

Education & Certification Requirements
  • Education: A Master’s or more advanced degree from an accredited institution in guidance and counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Completion of a relevant graduate program with coursework in school counseling, academic advising, or a related area. Alternative qualifications may include a valid license in counseling, social work, or a related field, combined with experience.
  • Certification: Valid Arizona Standard School Counselor, PreK-12 certificate, and an Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.

The pay range for this role is:

52,000 - 60,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
