Stellar Virtual was founded in 2019 with one school in Texas. We serve parents of K-12 students, unhappy with their current school, or needing an at-home/flexible learning environment. Today, Stellar Virtual has grown to six schools across three states: Texas, Arizona, and Indiana. Stellar Virtual is committed to going above and beyond for our virtual families.

Technology Aspect
Stellar Virtual and its affiliates require all employees and independent contractors to cover the costs associated with acquiring and providing the equipment (i.e., computers, internet service, telephone, home office setup, etc.) associated with remote employment.

Position Overview
Stellar Virtual is seeking a visionary and dynamic Academic Director to lead our innovative virtual learning institution across our Texas-based schools, eSchool Academy and Lone Star Academy. As the Academic Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience and ensuring the academic success of our students. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking educational organization that embraces technology to provide a high-quality virtual learning environment.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision and leadership to promote excellence in online education.
  • Develop and implement academic goals, policies, and programs that align with the school's mission and ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Oversee and support a team of educators and administrative staff to create a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Foster professional growth through mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and curriculum specialists to design and implement a rigorous, standards-based online curriculum.
  • Ensure instructional materials are engaging, relevant, and accessible to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Implement strategies to promote student engagement, motivation, and success in the virtual learning environment.
  • Develop programs to address the social-emotional well-being of students and foster a sense of belonging and community.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the community to promote effective communication and collaboration.
  • Foster partnerships with external organizations to enhance educational opportunities for students.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to monitor student progress, evaluate instructional effectiveness, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement strategies to support student achievement and close achievement gaps.
  • Develop and manage the school's budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support instructional needs and operational requirements.
  • Stay abreast of emerging educational technologies and leverage them to enhance instruction, engagement, and efficiency within the virtual learning environment.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Attributes 

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role in an educational setting, preferably with experience in virtual or online education; 7 or more years is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Comfortable with using educational technology tools and platforms.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and virtual collaboration tools is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Knowledge of best practices in online teaching and learning.
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future needs, and drive innovation in online education.
  • A passion for advancing educational opportunities for all students.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and the community.


Education & Certification Requirements

  • A master's degree in education or a related field is highly desirable but not required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is required.
  • An active Principal certification from the State of Texas.


The pay range for this role is:

85,000 - 90,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
