Stellar Virtual does not currently provide all employees or contractors with the necessary equipment (i.e., computers, internet service, telephone, home office setup, etc.) required for employment. Position Overview
Academic Counselors with Stellar Virtual provide elementary (K-5) students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in college, career, and military readiness and help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and support our “education with destination” model that enables students to understand their unique qualities, map their skills and interests to high wage / high demand careers, and develop competencies to function successfully in society.
Essential Position Functions
Hold and maintain a valid current certification as a guidance counselor, which is age-appropriate for the particular assignment as required by federal, state, or local regulations, laws, or regulatory bodies including the No Child Left Behind Act; which may also include acceptable scores on mandatory tests or other documentation meeting the requirements set forth by our organization and /or regulatory bodies for this position;
A demonstrated understanding of state test procedures and prior testing experience;
Prior experience or formal training in working with “at-risk” students preferred;
Demonstrated aptitude to perform the tasks expected of a school-based counselor;
A proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner with a variety of constituencies including parents, students, and staff;
Attend ARD meetings as needed;
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Ability to coordinate school support operations;
Conduct progress checks on student grades;
Return daily emails (to parents/students);
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills;
Guide students’/parents’ questions about benchmarks, TSIA2, TELPAS, and STAAR State testing;
Promote a positive, caring climate;
Attend all meetings as required;
Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds;
Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making, especially in difficult circumstances;
Proctor in-person state test sites as needed;
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Proven proficiency in Zoom, Google Workspace, PEIMS, LMS, MS Excel, MSWord, and Outlook;
Ability to pass required background check.
Education & Certification Requirements
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
At least one (1) year of successful School Counseling experience;
