General Manager - Records Retrieval (Remote)

Steno is growing! We’re looking for a General Manager of Records Retrieval to join our winning team, and to lead the growth and operations of a critical business unit. Who are you?
We’re looking for a leader and records retrieval expert, able to design and iterate workflows, set standards for our newest line of business, build a team from the ground up, and own the business strategy, P&L, and operational execution for this function. As the function grows, this role requires someone willing and able to do the work, but also someone with a vision for growth and success.
This role requires deep experience with records retrieval and a mix of operational leadership, process optimization, vendor and client relationship management, and experience with individual and team development. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of medical records retrieval processes and technology, client expectations and problem points, HIPAA compliance, and experience leading teams in a high-volume, high-stakes, service-oriented environment.
On a regular basis you will
- Build the framework for a best-in-class medical records retrieval function, from day one processes to long-term scalability.
- Recruit, mentor, and grow a team, setting a culture of accountability, innovation, and service excellence.
- Ensure efficient, accurate, timely, and compliant records retrieval across a high-volume, high-stakes, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Cultivate strong relationships with medical records providers, vendors, and clients to streamline retrieval and unlock efficiencies.
- Define KPIs, monitor performance, and implement data-driven process improvements to reduce turnaround times and improve accuracy.
- Collaborate with technology, product, and legal teams to integrate automations, enhance compliance, and deliver a seamless client experience.
- Keep Steno at the forefront of litigation services by monitoring trends, regulations, and emerging technologies.
You’re gonna crush it if
- You have 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in medical records retrieval
- You have deep knowledge of the records retrieval industry, HIPAA regulations, modern technology used to analyze medical records, and compliance regulations.
- You have a proven ability to hire, scale up, and manage large teams in a fast-paced environment.
- You have strong analytical skills with experience in KPI tracking and process optimization.
- You have excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- You are tech-savvy with experience in EMR/EHR systems, medical record retrieval platforms, or workflow automation tools.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary - $180k-$300k, based on experience.
