People Operations Associate

People Operations Associate, People Operations (Remote)

Full-Time, Remote / Salary, Exempt / Includes Benefits, PTO, Equity

Steno is growing! We’re looking for a People Operations Associate to join our winning team, which is revolutionizing the court reporting industry every single day. We’re a diverse team from all over the country (and beyond), and we’re crazy about redefining the boundaries of an outdated industry.

Who are you?

You’re an HR, People Ops, or project management professional with a few years of experience. You have a background in administration, experience using HR technology or similar software, and a strong sense of how to get things done behind the scenes. You know and have experience with all the acronyms - HRIS, ATS, and LMS - you’re willing to help out anywhere on the team, and you’re passionate about everything people-focused (but your skills don’t stop there).

As our People Operations Associate, you’ll interface with all members of the People Operations team and, in some cases, across the organization. You’ll focus on enhancing workflows, troubleshooting, job shadowing, promoting healthy usage, maintenance, and programming of our HR technology, and you should expect to regularly step in to support our busy People Ops team with various day-to-day tasks. In this role, you’ll constantly innovate, strive for efficiency and organization, and help take our team to the next level.

As a primary administrative and project management support for the People Operations team, you’re skilled at using HR technology (or similar software) to keep things running smoothly. You're comfortable pulling reports, organizing data, supporting projects, and collaborating with team members to ensure projects stay on track and align with team goals. You’ll be a key player in ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

On a regular basis you will

  • Act as a first line of defense for inquiries to the People Operations team, create and deploy automations and workflows to handle repetitive questions, and seize opportunities to educate and inform where appropriate
  • Embed with People Operations team members to examine existing processes and workflows impacting the full employee lifecycle and find operational efficiencies to free the team up for more strategic endeavors
  • Collaborate with the People Ops team to maintain, organize, and collect data for Steno's knowledge management system, including a knowledge base of compliance requirements in a multi-state environment
  • Assist the VP of People Operations with data collection and organization for annual finance planning, legal research and compliance projects, creating and maintaining People Ops dashboards, and contributing to the employee experience and change initiatives as needed
  • Support the Talent Acquisition Manager (and broader Talent Acquisition Team) in examining new technologies and workflows, handling high-volume or high-touch requisitions, and integrating new tech or enhancements into our existing processes
  • Support the Learning & Development Manager in harnessing data insights to be found within the LMS, operationalizing LMS reporting to managers and stakeholders, and finding enhancements to existing integrations
  • Support the People Operations Generalist in managing high-impact workflows, including payroll approval and reconciliation, timecard review and auditing, enhancement of existing payroll and onboarding processes, onboarding coordination, and maintenance of employee files
  • Support the People Operations team in other high-touch and high-volume workflows, including status change requests, knowledge base enhancements and maintenance, onboarding tasks and requirements, event planning and logistics, employee appreciation initiatives, year-end reporting, and deployment of our New Hire Orientation programming and guidelines
  • Serve as a point of contact for other teams and departments throughout the organization regarding recruiting and onboarding needs, reporting and dashboard needs, use of the HRIS, ATS, and LMS, and other related technology on an as-needed basis

You’re gonna crush it if

  • You have 3 - 5 years of progressively responsible work in a professional HR/People Operations or a Project Management role in a high-growth tech or startup environment (remote environment is a plus!)
  • You have familiarity with HRIS and ATS technology, reporting, integrations, and project management software, professional experience with LMS technology and related integrations, or equivalent experience with similar software
  • You have a bias for action! No problem is too big or small to solve; you pursue goals until the job is done
  • You are adept at putting your ego aside, receiving and acting on critical feedback, and operating comfortably amidst ambiguity; you have a professional level of emotional intelligence, and you treat everyone and every question with grace, respect, and hospitality
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills; you know how to adjust your approach, tone, and content based on your audience, and you know how to prioritize work received from multiple stakeholders
  • You possess strong Excel or Google Sheets skills; this is important, so make sure your know-how extends far past pivot tables and VLOOKUP
  • You have experience using Rippling (a bonus, not a necessity)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary - $68,640 - $85,000
  • Health, Vision, & Dental Benefits - generous company-sponsored health plans for both employees and dependents, including comprehensive vision & dental
  • Wellness/Mental Health - shared benefits to be used among employees and families
  • Flexible Paid Time Off - allowing employees to find balance in their lives
  • Options of Equity - we know our success is nothing without our team
  • Access to a 401k through Guideline
  • A home office setup and a monthly stipend to offset internet and phone costs
