About the Role
- The Vice President of Sales – Retail is responsible for developing and executing national retail sales strategies that expand Still Austin’s market presence, drive sustainable volume growth, and strengthen brand advocacy across key retail accounts. This role leads retail sales strategy, distributor partnerships, team development, and financial performance while serving as a senior retail leader within the organization. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, strong distributor management expertise, and the ability to build high-performing sales teams that deliver results aligned with brand values.
To be successful in this role, the Vice President of Sales – Retail will:

· Establish Still Austin as a preferred supplier with key retail partners and distributor networks.
· Translate data into action, using insights to guide forecasting, pricing, and market expansion decisions.
· Balance brand integrity with retail performance, ensuring growth aligns with Still Austin’s values and long-term vision.
· Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment between sales, marketing, production, and operations.
What You'll Do
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own national retail sales strategy, including market expansion, key account growth, and distribution priorities.
- Develop and execute retail go-to-market plans for new and existing markets.
- Lead distributor management strategy, serving as a trusted partner to Southern Glazers and other distributor stakeholders.
- Establish pricing strategies that maximize sales velocity, margin, and long-term revenue growth.
- Partner with Marketing and Field Marketing to drive effective consumer engagement, programming, and merchandising initiatives.
- Oversee inventory forecasting in collaboration with distributors and production to ensure supply aligns with market demand.
- Manage retail sales budgets and P&L performance to ensure financial discipline and profitability.
- Ensure all retail sales activities adhere to industry regulations and compliance standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Conduct ongoing market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks across national retail channels.
- Monitor and report on sales performance, KPIs, and distributor execution, providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a national retail sales team, setting clear expectations and performance standards.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with national and regional retail customers.
- Drive education and advocacy through distributor training, customer engagement, and brand storytelling.
- Coordinate with Operations and Production to align supply planning with retail growth initiatives.
- Represent Still Austin at key industry events, customer meetings, and strategic planning forums.Describe the specific responsibilities and job functions of the role
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of supplier, distributor, or CPG sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR
- Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of CPG sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR
- High school diploma or state-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of supplier or distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
- Proven experience leading sales teams and managing distributor relationships.
- Strong communication, leadership selling, and public speaking skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Ability to travel frequently by air and car.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and able to see, taste, and smell whiskey as part of job duties.
- Ability to obtain required liquor licenses as mandated by state or locality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and executing national retail strategies within the spirits or beverage alcohol industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable plans.
- Experience managing complex pricing strategies and P&L ownership.
