Part-Time Facilities Assistant Job Description

Student U’s Facilities Assistant is designed for someone who is experienced, motivated, and willing to assist with daily operations, ensure safety, and help maintain the property and equipment. This position reports to the Facilities Manager as they perform routine and preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and security as assigned. The position can have physical demands. You must be able to stand, walk, and lift items throughout a standard shift. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic and experience with painting, some plumbing, and facilities maintenance. This is a part-time position with an average of 20 hours per week.  


Ideal Start Date: March 18th, 2024 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspection of building and grounds for maintenance. 

  • Perform physical tasks and check facilities. Assist with the clean up of trash and

debris from the building exterior and lot; remove snow and de-ice walks and lot;

replace light bulbs; move and transfer supplies, boxes, office equipment, furniture, plans, specifications, and recyclables.

  • Collaborate with Facilities Manager when decisions and maintenance need to be made. 

  • Support when events are happening within the building (set up/breakdown/etc.) 

  • Maintain building guidelines and procedures. 

  • Follow emergency procedures and protocols.                         

  • Direct patrol of property externally daily for safety or security concerns. 

  • Other duties as assigned by the facilities manager. 

  • Maintain good relationships with building partners and members of the community. 


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate. 

  • At least two years experience with facilities maintenance (plumbing, minor repairs, painting), preferably in a large facility.

  • Skilled in de-escalation of conflict practices.

  • Experience or certification in a related field will be considered. 

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 

  • Very reliable and able to work well within a team.

Compensation: Start at $20-$21/hour + partial benefits
