About the role

The Drafter is responsible for transforming preliminary concepts and rough sketches into detailed engineering drawings using 3D CAD software, in accordance with established specifications and performance requirements. This role supports both sales and production teams by creating accurate design drawings based on specific configurations. The Drafter ensures proper revision control, manages bills of materials (BOM) within the ERP system, and exports finalized drawings to the appropriate personnel or production equipment. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support engineering and production operations.


What you'll do

  • Develop and prepare detailed 3D CAD drawings following established design specifications, performance standards, and customer requirements.
  • Translate sales and production configurations into accurate technical drawings for use in manufacturing and assembly.
  • Maintain strict revision control of all drawings to ensure accuracy and consistency across design updates.
  • Export finalized drawings to the appropriate departments, personnel, or production equipment for execution.
  • Create and manage bills of materials (BOM) in the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and alignment with corresponding designs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project goals.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by updating and optimizing existing drawings and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or relevant experience, preferred.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software; experience with SolidWorks is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, or production documentation is preferred.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC, milling, and welding.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and sales teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and the creation and management of bills of materials (BOM) is a plus.
