About the role

  • This role involves inspecting, servicing, and repairing diesel trucks, barges, and heavy equipment, with a focus on diesel engines and hydraulics. You will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs and installations, and following a regular maintenance schedule to ensure all machinery is operating efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems effectively.

What you'll do

  • Inspect, operate, and conduct thorough testing of engines, electrical systems, cranes, and heavy machinery to accurately diagnose malfunctions and ensure optimal functionality.
  • Repair, replace, and install a variety of equipment, including engines, navigational systems, operating systems, pumps, hydraulics, steering mechanisms, and components of cranes and heavy machinery, ensuring all systems function properly and safely.
  • Adhere to and maintain a detailed monthly maintenance schedule, conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on all equipment, including cranes and heavy machinery, to minimize downtime and extend service life.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, assess system performance, and determine effective corrective actions to resolve any operational or technical problems.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all quality standards, safety protocols, and industry regulations to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience with heavy equipment, PMs (Preventive Maintenance), and repair.
  • Willingness to travel if needed.
  • Truck ASE certificate.
  • Ability to work on a variety of equipment.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Welding skills are preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English, including safety rules, operating procedures, manuals, etc.
  • Ability to complete tasks and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • CDL class A is a plus.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints is a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts

  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying up to 100 pounds occasionally in addition to using material handling equipment.
  • May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Vision abilities require close vision assessments. Moderately loud noise levels in the work environment. 
  • Steel toe boots are required.

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
