About the role

  • This role involves installing and removing piers, boat lifts, and accessories using hand tools, welding, and heavy machinery. It requires building products to precise specifications and maintaining and repairing marine structures in various weather conditions. Additionally, the position involves operating cranes and machinery for construction and excavation, with proficiency in welding, machinery operation, and hand tools.

What you'll do

  • Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and dump trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assist in the construction, maintenance, and dismantling of docks, piers, and other marine structures.
  • Load, unload, and distribute materials and equipment for daily operations.
  • Repair broken components on piers, barges, and other marine structures.
  • Weld and fabricate aluminum and steel components, following production drawings and safety guidelines. Follow project plans and blueprints to meet specifications and deadlines.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Excavate, backfill, grade, and compact earth to prepare construction sites.
  • Load and unload materials, debris, and equipment using machinery.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment operations and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the construction site.
  • Other duties as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts

  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying up to 100 pounds occasionally in addition to using material handling equipment.
  • May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.  Vision abilities require close vision assessments. Moderately loud noise levels in the work environment. 
  • Steel toe boots are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience operating heavy machinery in construction or related field.
  • Ability to swim; comfortable working on or near water.
  • Experience with aluminum and steel welding.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure top-quality product delivery.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of various welding techniques and equipment.
  • Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
