SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under general supervision, the Quality Engineer is responsible for validating systems, processes and procedures. The Quality Engineer also handles documentation related to Quality (PPAP, SPAP, APQP, 8D etc). ISO 9001:2015 compliance and corrective actions are also in the purview of the Quality Engineer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
o Read, understand, and follow blueprints, job order specifications, engineering drawings (including GD&T)
o Record, analyze and interpret data, communicate test results, and support the performance of statistical analysis when needed.
o Troubleshoots production development problems related to parts and/or assemblies; recommends improvements and/or solutions.
o Assists in the verification of implemented quality improvements to the manufacturing process.
o Using problem solving techniques (8D, 3 legged 5 whys, Ishikawa Diagram), reports root cause of product and/or part failures.
o Provides technical assistance and training in quality techniques and services.
o Complete and maintain all necessary and associated paperwork.
o Understand and work within ISO requirements and processes.
o Knowledge of Control Plans, Product Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA), and Flow Diagrams and how they related to Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
o Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
o Adhere to all Super Steel and OSHA safety related work rules and procedures.
o Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.
o Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
o High school diploma or general education (GED) required.
o 5 or more years of quality control, engineering, welding, and related field experience in a heavy metal fabrication environment.
o Must be able to read and use calipers, scale, ruler, tape measure, and similar.
o Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and customer specs.
o Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos.
o Able to confidently communicate and present facts verbally and in writing.
o Certified Weld Inspector credentials preferred.
o AWS D1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.6 accredited preferred.
o Non-Destructive Testing (LT, PT, MT, and UT) experience preferred.
o Ability to handle multiple assignments while prioritizing workflow.
o A self-motivated, detail-oriented critical thinker who can make practical business decisions.
o Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
o Apply general mathematical concepts to practical situations, including interpreting measurements as well as using measuring devices and power tools.
o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
